If you have been struggling to flare steel lines on your car using the cheap bar clamp-style tube flaring tools, this is what you have been looking for. Many other tools like this only handle "soft steel", aluminum, nickel-copper alloy, or other soft metals. Often, the OEM lines in the car are steel.I mangled the OEM brake line installed on my car so many times trying to get a DIN bubble flare with the cheap tool. This gave me a perfect DIN bubble flare the first time, on the car.Note that I prepped the line by both reaming and deburring the end to be flared before using this tool. The die/head of the tool is weighty and substantive. The threaded connection between the handle and the die is probably an M12 or M14; it is very sturdy and will handle the stresses of you cranking on the arbor to form the flare. It's easy to set up. One of the bolts screws in in place of the arbor and sets the depth of the line perfectly. The three 10mm bolts hold the two halves of the die together, which holds the line in place tightly without tearing up the outside like the tools that rely on internal threading to hold the line in place. If you have steel brake lines that you need to flare in situ or don't want to spend $250 for a hydraulic flaring tool that's constrained to a vise, this is what you need.Great tool.

I don't usually leave reviews, but this thing works well and if you're looking at this you're probably doing a job that's not fun already and maybe this will help. I did the back half of a 2002 Saab 9-5 Aero wagon, the car has single bubble flares.1. Degrease the line and clamp on factory steel lines: It did handle the coated factory steel lines using the smaller 4.75mm (0.1870) side. At first it was just pushing the line back through and it didn't seem like it had enough clamping power like some reviewers wrote, and I thought maybe I'd have to replace the whole line. Then I used my brain, and degreased both the outside of the line and the inside of the die where it clamps with some brake cleaner and it worked great going slow with lots of the lube that comes with it.2. Soft metals are no problem: The Nickel-Copper line was a walk in the park and every attempt made a great flare.3. Make sure the line is straight and the cut is square: After using this thing, my guess is that the reviews that talk about bad off center flares are probably because the line wasn't straight or the cut on the line wasn't square. There's a little window on the side to look and make sure the center of the die is contacting the line correctly, it will self center to some extent, but it has to be close.

Bubble flare perfection. Needed a mobile tool that could make bubble flare and this one does that perfectly. Definitely need a mobile one not a vice one for patching back in to the existing lines. I’ve used it for brake lines on an 01 Civic and 01 Accord that needed bubble flares. The only thing that could make this product better would be a case for everything.

Tool is so perfect I had to write my first review ever. I tried 2 other, cheap flare kits that require a vice without success. Almost gave up, but then I came across this tool. It was easy to use, didn't need a vice, and gave me perfect flares every time.

Very handy tool. Well designed and easy to use. I did a few tests on 3/16 Cu-Ni tubing to check out the flare quality. Every-now-and-then it misfires for some reason and the flare is lopsided (too lopsided to use). But 'most' of the time it does a good job. It seems that having the end of the tube absolutely flat and straight before attempting a flare is of importance. The advertising for this tool is not 100% clear what flares it creates, but after playing with it, I found that it successfully creates the following three flare types: 1) SAE inverted, 2) SAE bubble, and 3) DIN/ISO bubble. The SAE bubble is created by only performing the first step of the SAE inverted process. (NOTE: some sources say that the first step of a SAE inverted flare is not the same thing as a SAE bubble, but I could find no noticeable difference, so I think it works - see photos.)Even though this tool is not perfect, it seems to me to be vastly better than those older 'clapper-type' flaring tools with the wing nut. I have yet to try this with steel tubing.

Worked like a charm to patch up rusted brake lines on my e46 bmw.i wasted days and materials with other conventional flare kits before i purchased this.Result was effortless perfect bubble flares both with 3/16 copper and the 5mm oem bmw lines.Highly recommended and well worth having in the toolbox.

It was a pretty good idea, and it looked like it would work, however when flaring steel brake lines the tool allows the line to expand while flaring it. nearly a half inch of line will become a larger diameter and this prevents the brake line nut from sliding to the end of the flared line like it should. It requires sanding or filing of the line in order to get the nut into position where it should be. where the line is held is too far from where it is flared.

Arrived on time , next day shipping.Wow this was a hefty price tag. DOUBLE the price of SAE only tool.Supplied on a blister card no box. It needs a plastic box especially for the price and the supplied small parts.Other than that its a Quality part - I needed a tool with DIN bubble capacity.Comes with lifetime warranty on materials/workmanship.Feels nice in the hands - extra clamping screw for this particular tooling helps to hold the line tight.Other tools and also the Capri tool without the DIN option use only 2 screws.Instructions are on the back of the packing card and really small. All handheld brake tools should come with a DIN bubble, unfortunately they do not.Needed for BMW and Mercedes brake lines.Probably not as good as a TGR or similar lever type tool, but those you cannot use on the vehicle.

Tried doing bubble flares . Followed instructions to the T.The worst flares I have ever seen…. the bubble flare turns out different and distorted.Do not buy….. it is a load of garbage….waste of money

Redid some brake lines using this tool. Worked equally as well for both steel and copper nickel lines. Obviously easier to work with copper nickel but I was surprised by how it took on the steel lines as well. The lines I did have held up great as well as the flares and joints. The diameters specified by the tool are true and the tool itself holds down the line very well for the flare press. Overall fantastic tool worth the investment if you wanted to do your lines properly.

Does a quality job. Creates an accurate DIN bubble flare and likewise for the SAE bubble. Also excellent on the double flare. The dies are well made to properly hold the tubing.I didn't need the expensive units that flare every size, I've only ever done 3/16 brake lines and thisis just the ticket!
