My dads Echo trimmer was running like crap...it would start, but would spit and sputter, wouldn't idle nor rev up and would die completely on acceleration. He was told the priming bulb and gas lines were faulty and needed replacement. He purchased a kit at Lowes that contained the fuel lines, priming bulb, fuel line grommet for $18 and had it installed. After replacement, the problem still existed. He has ran gas that contained ethanol, a big no no for small engines since it is very unstable, damages the fuel lines and the metal components in the carburetor. Frustrated, he asked me if I could help him with it.I first checked the screen in the muffler to ensure it wasn't blocked with debris or soot causing it to choke out...a very common on many brands of small engines. It was clearly evident the carburetor needed rebuilt. So I looked up the parts needed to rebuild it, which was nearly $40 at the local small engine repair center. After a little research, I located this kit. I was VERY skeptical of this kit because it contained the carburetor, air filter, gaskets, fuel lines, fuel filter, tank grommet, and spark plug for less than he paid just for the priming bulb and fuel line kit. After looking at the reviews, most of which were very positive, I ordered the kit. With Prime, the kit arrived in 2 days. The carburetor was simple to install which took about 10 minutes. This included installing the new spark plug, grommet and fuel lines, the gaskets and air filter. I purchased new gas [ethanol free] and mixed synthetic 2 cycle oil at the recommended 50:1 ratio and filled the tank. I pushed the priming bulb 3 times, turned the run switch on, applied the choke and pulled the starter cord. It fired on the second pull! I turned the choke off and the trimmer idled perfectly with no further adjustment needed. It accelerated perfectly to full speed and returned to a perfect idle when the trigger was released. The trimmer has been used for over a month [about 20 hours of run time] and runs perfectly with absolutely no adjustments necessary.I've read reviews concerning the fitment of the gaskets and issues with the fuel lines. If you order the correct kit [using the serial number is critical to ensure you get the correct kit], the kit matches up perfectly. Second, the instructions are VERY specific concerning the use of gas containing ethanol...DON'T use it. If you can not find ethanol free gas, use a gas stabilizer made for 2 cycle engines along with the 2 cycle oil. This will offer some protection to the fuel lines and the metal components in the fuel circuit. I have no reservations about recommending this kit. The fit was perfect, installation is very simple, operation is perfect without any further adjustments to the idle or run circuits and the value is outstanding.

GREAT kit, only wish it had even basic instructions included. Not a big deal though, fairly easy to figure out.Includes just about everything you need to rebuild the important parts of the trimmer. In my case, the gas tank was leaking out of the tube grommets, the carb was so bad that it didn't run at idle, i had to nearly always have the trigger pressed. It smoked, it ran like poop.Completely my fault. I ran my own mixed gas+oil and I didn't get non-ethanol mixed. After the first week the primer bulb ripped, bought new bulbs. then the hoses got really hard and started cracking, replaced a couple. then the thing just started leaking everywhere and having problems.Since running the premix gas that you get at home depot, it ran much better and stopped smoking. Finally put in this rebuild kit and refilled with fuel. After getting the throttle cable dialed in a bit, this thing started up and ran LIKE NEW (newer than when I ever owned it anyway!). I mean completely night and day difference.I did struggle a bit getting the grommet for the gas tank tubing shoved in there, but I know it needs to be a tight fit. Everything else lined up and mated perfect. no leaks or smoke. everything fit with zero issues.Dollar for time and quality value is extremely high. This kit is worth it and I'm considering picking up a spare for down the road, in case they stop making this stuff. I have no reason to buy a new trimmer. it seriously runs better than any other time I owned it. I bought it off my coworker used for $25!

As most people had indicated on their review, the weed trimmer (SRM 225 Echo for me) would run rough. I tried a basic overhaul with just fuel filter, air filter, and spark plug last year. It ran better, but not crisp like a well tuned engine. This year I thought I would change out all the above and the carburetor this time. What a difference! The kit does NOT come with instructions, but there are plenty of YouTube videos to watch and learn. It took me about 30 minutes to do the job, but if I did not have to go back and forth from my garage to get another tool, it would have been faster. The tools required are a T25 screwdriver/bit, an adjustable wrench, a 3/4 in socket for the spark plug, and a Phillips head screwdriver.I highly recommend getting the carburetor when you do the tune up. It does not cost much more and you only have to take out two more screws.
