After reviewing many dog doors and watching a few videos we purchased this unit. Shown is my Aussiehole,(Australian Shepherd) well the rear of her anyway. She is about 50 lbs and full of energy, and is an in-and-out dog all day long. Opening the door took up way too much time, although I do work from home she was making me get up much more frequently helping with the exercise. I digress, the instructions are a joke as the recommended device to cut the hole is a chainsaw. This is a metal door. Seriously a chainsaw. Measure, measure, and measure, the dog door shown is large. There are several places to find out how to correctly measure the door opening placement. I can't stress this enough, the hubs and I had words over the height as I wanted it a bit lower, you see in the pic her belly is on the opening. To an Aussie, it is perfect as she can fly through it at her pleasure but for other breeds or more than one pup it might be an issue. Anyway, we used a giant drill bit to start the corners and then a Sawzall to cut through the door. We marked the screw settings in all the corners and used a straight edge to insure the door would be square and level. The outer frame and inner frame screw together well with the clear panel in the center. The light you see around the edge is where the panel goes in to close the door which needs to be caulked. It is not very secure and could be an issue depending on where you live, it was not a concern for us. We will caulk it and paint the door. This does not have good insulation properties as it is heavy plastic which may require some additional sealing in winter. This model was purchased as it was relatively inexpensive and we knew we would be replacing the door within the year. It took me a few treats and about a day for her to get used to the panel swinging back and forth but it was all worth it. She loves the freedom and I appreciate that I can work undisturbed, well most of the time. Good luck with the installation, we were finished in a few hours.

We had to add a wood frame so we can put this door in an aluminum screened patio door. We had another one but broke due to my dog's speed going thru. Hopefully this one won't break as fast but you can see in the picture, my belgian malinois pass thru always at high speed and he is 80lbs.Update: A year later, the flap finally collapsed. Not high speed resistant ... Not suitable for high enery dogs like a belgian malinois

Pros:Quality built door.Very durable.Fairly easy to install with the righttool to cut a hole in the main door.Cons:Flap is magnetic to bring the flap back in place.Which is good, but it isstrong to break free and cats have a struggle to get it open. But they do it.Should last a long time.I recommend it.

My husband said it was easy to install. My 65pd puppy has plenty of room to go through with much to spare. Love the magnetic catch. Nice and airtight. Highly recommend

If you're not handy with tools buy this for someone else to install. It was an easy install for me. Just removed a panel of glass from the door and fit it in! It was easy!!

Haven’t even had this for 3 months and it already. broke. Older pups that aren’t rough on anything so it’s not like it was abused at all. Very disappointed

We've had this for 1yr 4mo. It worked well in that time. Suddenly the flap has a tear on each side at the top where it connects to the frame and the inside side piece that makes it hold it's shape is falling out the bottom. It's a rubber material so can't slide it back up and sticking out it now prevents the door from closing all the way. Trying to find a replacement but since it's an off brand I'm having to check every image and spec for the right size and hole alignment. Do yourself a favor and get one of the brand name ones that sell replacement flap. It will make your life easier.

I bought this version as it offered a larger flap size for the frame size snd zi had limited room to install on a storm door. The flap is not centered and the gaps on the sides will inevitably let bugs in. The gaps are also inconsistent top to bottom . I dont know why these designs also wont accommodate thinner doors as Im sure I'm not the only one installing these on thinner storm doors. I knew its thickness limitations going in but it still just speaks to its crappy design. The instructions are all but worthless but luckily it’s easy enough to install they’re not even worth looking at.
