Your cart is empty. The Celestron Dew Shield DX is an essential accessory that protects your optical tube in the field. It prevents excess moisture in the air from forming condensation on the corrector lens. A dew shield also helps block stray light from entering the telescope for better viewing and astroimaging. Use the Dew Shield DX on your 6” and 8” Schmidt Cassegrain, EdgeHD, and RASA (with single dovetail) optical tubes with confidence.
Construction
The Dew Shield DX provides a perfect, custom fit designed specifically for 6” and 8” Celestron optical tubes. The Dew Shield is built from durable PE plastic that is flexible but strong. Extra padding has been added at the tube attachment edge to create a stronger fit on the optical tube. The felt-lined interior absorbs any additional stray light and excessive moisture, creating optimal contrast when viewing and imaging. The large dovetail cutout has been made both wider- to accommodate a 4” wide dovetail rails, as well as deeper, to create a more solid connection with the optical tube.
Attaching the Dew Shield to your optical tube is easy thanks to the Velcro attachment points. Whether your optical tube is 6” or 8”, simply adjust the Velcro for the correct fit.

To save space when not in use, roll up your Dew Shield DX for easy transport and storage.

Hello Fellow Astronomers,I read that this dew shield doesn't fit the 8se telescope and quite frankly, when I got mine, I also thought it didn't fit properly. I though it should have been wider so that the whole hook-and-loop section should be used and I only overlapped the hook-and-loop by about one half. Today, I decided to overlap the whole hook-and-loop section and tried attching it to my 8se. Well, what do you know, it fits snugly and the unit is now properly fastened by the whole hook-and-loop section.

This is a great dew shield for the EdgeHD 8 or any other 8" SCT. It withstands a breeze and low angles without drooping. I use a HyperStar with my camera and it doesn't interfere with either. I wrap it around the SCT and long dovetail inside the padded case for travel and it doesn't have any odd bends when I take it out. I'm very happy with this dew shield.

As someone else mentioned, this BARELY fits the Celestron Nexstar 8se. It's fine, but a little more overlap would be nice. Otherwise it's good.

This was the les expensive model of the dew shields offered by Celestron for my telescope. I combined it with a dew shield Celestron Heater ring. As expected from Celestron it worked great with a great fit and a great dew heater the combination was great. I think that I am going to order the solid aluminum dew shield. Not because there is anything wrong with the flex system but because I use my scope often in the winter. I just feel that the hard scope cover would perform better in my application.As for the ease of use, it is a simple matter of attaching the two ends of the Velcro together. The alignment takes takes care of itself. I would recommend both dew shields. But if you use it like I do, then I would go with the solid shield with the cover.

This bag fits really good. Not to snug to prevent getting the telescope into it but also not to loose that the telescope moves around inside the bag. It does have a velcro strap inside. I have not used it yet.

It is a decent product if it actually fits your scope. It is far to big for my 6" scope so back it goes.
