It tool several years for me to come back to a product that actually works. I used this one growing up and after several newer products over the years have failed, several stopped working, I searched and order this one. I purposefully looked for an old fashioned can opener, after being tiered of having the wheels spin without opening the cans for the rotary version. It gets getting used to, and starting the puncture takes some finesse, but one it’s in, it cuts. The edges are jagged so you have to be careful, but it gets the job done. If I can figure out how to start the puncture in a safe and non erratic way, it would be awesome. I do wrap a cloth on the handle because the edges are angular and very utilitarian, which is why I got it to begin with. No batteries, no moving parts to malfunction, no plugs or cords. Transportable. The blade is sharp, so caution is needed as with all sharp objects. The price was reasonable so if it didn’t work I didn’t feel like I spent a lot…but it worked just as I expected. 4 stars not five only because of the comfort of the handle, but not a deal breaker. I am glad I was able to find it!

I bought a pretty cool looking opener that did not work at all. I have used this very basic type of opener all my life and I thought a new, more modern appearing opener might be a nice change. It did not complete a whole turn around my can of olives before it slipped of the can and spilled olive juice all over the counter.I could not wait to buy this opener so that I could throw the other opener in the trash where it belonged!I love this opener and I will never stray from the best can opener ever again!

I have been through quite a few openers from electric ones costing $40 to designer crank ones costing $20, they ALWAYS end up breaking down after a few months or so and never open the can right. Either slipping or not fully cutting the edge. Last expensive one I bought on here was $20 and broke after 3 uses.Needed an opener quick so I ordered the cheapest one I could find for overnight shipping and to my amazement, it works better than any other opener I have tried. :)

I purchased this to toss into my bug out bag as an old timey product to open cans, bottles, etc without electricity. Haven't used it yet, although my grandmother had one eons ago. A must have for if one needs a can opener in the wilderness, takes less space than a hand driven can opener, plus will puncture and has a cork screw to boot. Sturdy and well built.

I gave this can opener 3 stars because it worked for a few months and did a great job for the price and then one day it just quit working. When I turned the handle while it was on a can, it wouldn’t move. I thought maybe it was the can so I tried a different can from a different company and it still didn't work. I did really appreciate the part of the opener that was a can lid punch. This makes it so much easier to pour something that is just liquid out of a can without opening it all the way. I also liked how small the opener was. I just wish this would have lasted longer.

I want to give this 5*. It works well enough & I have been looking for years for this style of can opener. It just works. It is a little harder to turn, but it never skips any part of the lid.Having a liquid pour end is great for draining & makes this more versatile than other can openers.Unfortunately it doesn't fit my hand. The ones I grew up with were about an inch longer & resulted in better leverage. I would love to buy one that is longer for the house & keep this one in my camper.Even still, it opens the cans without leaving frustrating bits that did not get cut.Much easier to clean than the circle blades.Being all chrome just looks good.As long as you can turn the knob, it is easy to use.It would be great if this was 1.5" longer on each handle & if the knob was 0.5" longer in total for better leverage on both.

I put 3 stars as the rating because this isn't easy to use if you have never used one. However, it works every time on any size and shape of can, can be used to open your beer and your wineIdeal for the glove compartment of your car and necessary in your emergency preparedness kitsIt's more versatile than the military key ring can opener and as easy to use once you know howNote the notch. First hold the can opener up as in the 2nd picture and give it a sharp hit with the palm of your hand so that the blade punctures the lid of the can. Second, put the rim of the can into the notch and walk the blade around the can until the lid comes off.

This can opener is perfect! I bought this to put in my family emergency evacuation bag. In order to carry as many items as we possibly can to make an evacuation more comfortable...I look for small size items and light weight items so they take up just a wee bit of space in our bag leaving room for another comfort item. This itty bitty can opener is perfect for that! It is small, light weight, works, is solid and sturdy.

For me, these are the best types of can openers as they do not go blunt like the ones with moving parts do. This one seems well made sturdy and reliable I recommend it.
