Updated 5-Star Review: Turns out this was my bad. While the drive I had appeared to be a msata drive, it was actually a mpata drive. Apparently they are very hard to tell apart and very rare. I had never seen one before in all my years fixing computers. I tried a msata drive and it worked beautifully.Original 1-Star Review: The design is excellent, and my ssd slotted in easily. However, it does not work. The drive gets hot but does not display as storage in the OS.

This worked for exactly what I needed it to do... get data from an old msata ssd onto my new computer. I can't speak for the longevity yet since I just bought it, but it worked to transfer lots of gigabytes of data flawlessly so far.

This little external hard drive adapter was extremely easy to install the hard drive in, the correct size for my Lenovo Ideapad's hard drive, and worked quickly and easily with my new laptop. The only negative (and why I only gave 4 stars) is that it doesn't always stay in place when used in the laptop and gets very warm to the touch if used for longer than a couple minutes at a time.

Wow this thing gets hot. I'm adding passive heatsinks to the outside of the case, because I'm afraid the buildup of heat will kill the SSD if I use it as-is for too long.

I like the physical design. It looks and feels solid. The problem is that the Sata to usb chipset doesn't seem to work terribly well. Particularly in Linux. After a few hundred megs of transfers, the kernel driver freezes.Perhaps it works better in Winmoz or Mac OS.

I have used it to help image mSATA drives and it seems to work well.
