my wife and I recently purchased a multifamily house on 1 acre of land. the acre is the reason we fell in love, but it certainly needed some TLC and we also wanted to start a garden in the back yard so we saw this compost spreader and thought it would save us a bunch of time and effort.once we were able to save up compost with some of the organic waste as well as leaves and such, we were able to use this and give it a good test.This was super easy to assemble, and we were able to do so in about 12 minutes following the included instructions and hardwareOnce this was assembled, we were easily able to shovel in the compost and close the lid so we can start spreading. we do not have a big mower to be able to tow it around the yard, so we opted for the old push mode by hand, and we were surprised at just how smooth and easy it was to roll.it in fact spread everything evenly and well enough for one or two go arounds to have a very large area done in minutes! we can see this being used for a numerous application and want to use it for some seeds for the lawn as well when the weather and season is right!The outer main component is the cage with the outer cylinders and mesh that attaches, and we do feel that the quality is quite good, and the mesh is rather strong and not easily bent or manipulatedthe hardware that is included for the connections of the sections to assemble are fairly standard, but everything seems to be strong and integral with no squeaking or loose parts to speak offor the price there is good value with this product in just the ease of use and ability to save time and effort. it definitely makes life easier, and we are happy with the purchase

Unfortunately, the weather turned before I had a good chance to use this. I was able to get it assembled in about 30 minutes though. The instructions are OK, and there are stickers on the parts to help you figure out which parts go where. The assembly process is a little tricky because (a) you have to use some included wire stands to hold the ends up while you add parts and (b) the holes didn't always align easily to start the screws. This is especially true on for the hinged door piece that has the latches. It wasn't easy to get the latches and hinges aligned all at once, but I eventually got them to work properly.The spreader rolls easily once assembled. Looking from the sides, you can see that the curvature of the screen parts is slightly more than the mating edges of the side wheels, leaving a small gap. This is part of the problem with the assembly, but the gaps are far smaller than the openings in the screen, so I don't see this as an issue once the spreader is assembled.I noticed that the paint scratches fairly easily. Given that this is going to be rolled around in dirt and sand, it doesn't bode well for avoiding rust issues, even though it comes with a cover. It would have been better if the parts were powder-coated instead of just painted. Other than that I haven't found any functional issues with the spreader just rolling it around.

I love this thing! I love that it can be pushed, pulled, or towed. I love that assembly is about what you would expect. I love that it works with topsoil, dirt, manure, and compost. Most of all, my back loves this thing. As I age, especially since we “recently†graduated from 0.2 acres to just over 3 acres, I find that I am relying more on equipment rather than elbow grease. Leveled my backyard like a beast! It went together easily, and a good smooth layer of soil and meat moss was applied.

this is great pending on the type of compost, you will have no problems, we make our own at home so this is good to have, fill and use when needed. if youre suing compost from the store it will drain out rather quickly pending on its quality. this will rust if left out in the rain or moist areas so when youre done, hose it done,dry it up and store it somewhere dry. it was easy to assembly and durable rolls well when spreading and spreads evenly.

For compost distribution in our lawn areas, I’ve tried throwing compost from a wheelbarrow with a shovel, pouring from a big bucket, hand throwing…. All a pain. I saw a friend using a similar roller last year. It looked was easier. It is.This “Garden Tailor Compost Spreader 44 Inch Towable Peat Moss Spreader†is a breeze to use. I fill it with our homemade aged leaf and grass compost, and tow it behind our ‘ride on mower’. It is not a zero-turn. As the barrel rotates, it mixes up the compost, which then falls through the holes. It’s not perfect, even release, but it is better than I can do any other way. One of the best tools in the garden/yard maintenance list this year.A great value for me.
