Wanted to try one of these cordless heat guns to make it a little easier when working on car wiring. The gun does melt my waterproof connectors, but it takes a while to get going. Also have used it on some vinyl wrap and the slow part is good so you don't melt the wrap. Has temp settings which is nice. For a hobbyist like myself it is fine. If you are using this in your day to day work it would be too slow in my opinion.

It is extremely unusual for me to give an opinion on a product. Over the years, like many, I've purchased quite a bit online. Overall have done fairly well. This "product review" is the VERY FIRST AND ONLY submitted within a week of delivery. I have wanted/needed a heat gun for a very long time. I would guess over ten years. Every time I go seeking to buy one, some obstacle would block the plan & once again obtaining a decent heat gun would go on the back burner. I have several projects that need to be finished before winter a heat gun would be needed. With little hope of finding one that checked all the boxes & was priced right. I own several Makita hand tools & been happy with all of them, especially the cordless tools. I've picked up a number of 18V LXT batteries. The first Amazon search revealed the LIVOWALNY Heat Gun, "WITH ALL THE BELLS & WHISTLES" that I wanted, for LESS THAN $50.00 - I could procrastinate no longer. I admit list of features @ at a near ridiculous price expectation, wasn't realistic. For some reason I had mindset. I can't explain it. Seriously! The LIVOWALNY Heat Gun; Cordless (compatible with Makita batteries), Digital Temperature Setting (a MUST HAVE if needing ACCURACY AT LOW HEAT) & COMES WITH ALL THE GOODY'S i WILL USE & NO USELESS CRAP ADDED. The LIVOWALNY is an awesome tool. Heats up to desired temp in seconds! Holds the temp (especially LOW TEMP) - all day! Looks great hanging next to Makita Cordless Drill (Like Twins). It appears to be built to last! Time will tell of course, but I bet $100 to a doughnut this is the last heat gun I need to buy. For Mr Skeptic (me) to make that statement is seriously uncharacteristic.I have to say it again; All for Less than $50.00 (Amazon Prime) Huzzah!

Took me forever to find someone with a 20v battery, only to find thatA) I'm pretty sure an 18v would have fit all along, and I and many people I know have a number of 18v Dewalt batteries so IF that's true, had I known earlier I would have popped an 18v in and discovered what I now discovered upon popping a fully charged 20v onto the heat gun, which was that:B) this heat gun puts out NO air & doesn't even heat up in the SLIGHTEST. It makes NO NOISE AT ALL, yet the LCD lights up & you can see the settings change on the LCD when you make settings adjustements on either the tool OR screen... yet NO AIR & NO HEAT WORK - MEANING, ITS A DOA GUN WITH 'EVERYTHING' WORKING EXCEPT THE HEAT AND THE AIR... HENCE SORRY NOT SORRY TO LEAVE THIS VERY NEGATIVE REVIEW FOR THIS WORKING NON WORKING WANNbe heat gun... I have a time sensitive AND temperature sensitive project I would have been able to handle last week when it was in the 40s and no snow, ice or even dampness outside...Since amazon couldn't get their act together though on other tools I ordered for same job, (were not delivered on schedule), I now 3 days later STILL am unable to do the work, and it's down in the 20s with PLENTY of snow fallen ontop of TWO DAYS OF RAIN...IF THIS FRIGGIN HEAT GUN WOULD SIMPLY WORK FOR ABOUT 5 WHOLE MINUTES ID BE DONE... BUT NOPE. AND I CANT USE MY HIGH QUALITY CORDED STEINEL GUN BECAUSE THERES NO POWER OUTLET AVAILABLE WHERE I NEED TO DO THE REPAIR AT...(ENTERPRISING CRACK HEADS DRILLED A HOLE IN THE METAL FUEL TANK OF MY 27FT BOX TRUCK TO STEAL WHAT LITTLE GAS I HAD IN THE BOTTOM OF THE MASSIVE TANK, SO CANT DRIVE IT OR EVEN MOVE IT TILL I PATCH IT, YET CANT NOW PATCH IT CAUSE AMAZONA) TOTAlly SCREWED ME ON DELAYED ARRIVAL OF OTHER TOOLS,ANDB) SENT THIS HEAT GUN, WHICH ALBEIT ON TIME, SHOWED UP DOA - DOESNT EVEN WORK AT ALL.THANKS YET AGAIN TO AMAZON!!

I purchased this unit mostly for field repair work where my 110v heat guns are not available and a butane torch isn't necessarily a good idea. It will definitely shrink both single wall and double wall heat shrink. But as it is advertised at 990°F, it should have also worked on the solder seal type connectors as their low temp solder melts at between 280°F and 320°F. even using the smallest orifice condensing nozzle, this unit was unable to activate the solder at less than 3/8" distance. I suspect they are measuring the air temp at the coil and not at the end nozzle as the highest temperature I could record at the main output without condensing nozzles, measured pointing directly into the heat gun was 200.5°F with the maximum air temperatures in the 220°F to 240°F range with the small orifice condensing nozzle which I confirmed with my IR camera. This was all tested using a Dewalt 6AH Flexvolt battery. For a $30 heat gun, it is OK. But because it is advertised as being much higher output than it delivers, I can only give it 3 stars. As for battery life, not as bad as I would have thought, with approximately 10 minutes total actual runtime, I still had one bar left on the 6AH battery, for something utilizing a heating coil, I did not find this to be unacceptable. So I am not going to ding them for that. All in all, for general heat shrink tube, I will recommend the unit as a low cost alternative to the brand name units. Just understand it will not work on thicker materials or with low temp solder products.

Esta pistola de calor calienta lo nesario para doblar un tubo sin ningún problema, la use con una baterÃa de 20 voltios y la carga le duró unos 15 minutos, tiempo subiciente para realizar el trabajo

Had both on hand and put fully charged 9amp 60v dewalt batteries on them for a comparison test. Grabbed some thinner electronic repair solder and both started melting the solder at about the same time( within seconds). Both are very close in cfm output and noise level too. A regular 20v 6amp battery had less heat and cfm output and took longer to warm up.Happy with the purchase knowing this copy performed nose to nose with the real thing. Worth the money imho, especially since you buy 3 of these copies for one genuine dewalt.Had to compare these two because of the amount of negativity on its Amazon reviews.Fact: A 20v gun will only produce so much heat and cfm. This copy compares very favourable to the real McCoy. Rather ironic, because the reviews on the real dewalt are the opposite of this models. Will probably buy a second for this winter. We use them to quickly warm up auto plastic parts so they don’t shatter in the cold on removal, frozen hydraulic quick couplers, locks , etcWe use an auto light mps torch for most bigger warm up jobs to break the frost where there is no paint, plastic, o rings, etc to damage or danger of fire

Heat gun works great...use a 4amh battery or bigger I figured it would be a battery hog after all it is a short circuit to make heat

This heat gun offers the ability to control your heat digitally in both the High range and low range. It also allows you to adjust the fan speed in those zones too. This is unique among the tools I looked at. Most (including the name brand) offer High and Low and that changes the fan speed too. This one lets you have low heat mode and a stepped fan speed from low to high in both High and Low heat zones. For the price, that is a neat feature. I have two complaints that are not really deal breakers for the price. First noticed, the display. I tried out two units and they both have the same issues on the edge of the display. It seems when they pop the display into its housing, it distorts slightly. You can see the edge has that distortion, or blemish. I sent one back to Amazon thinking it was shipping damage, or perhaps defective, but the new one arrived with same thing on the other side of the display. I decided for the price and the features, I can live with that. The second potential issue is this: Dewalt batteries popped in no problem at all. My brand new Amazon purchased after market 6ah batteries did not. The would slide in to about 1cm left and would not budge. After examining other Dewalt tools, I noticed that the heat gun had an extra bit of plastic on the end in the slide channel. The battery would not slide past those. The Dewalt ones no issue, but for some reason, my 6ah ones would not. Quick exacto trim of the little tiny L shaped lip on both sides and good to go. If other reviews mention the battery doesn't fit, this very simple clipping of a few mm of plastic and no problem with my aftermarket battery. That being said, the tool itself works very well and has a good quality feel (except my complaint about the display). For this heat gun, the added display and digital controls make it a great addition to the tool set. Can't speak for longevity tests yet. The only other disappointment was that it was not yellow. I expected yellow when it arrived, but as pictured and as advertised, it is grey. Looks great with my aftermarket batteries that are all black. The accessories that it comes with are also an added bonus for the price. Every attachment you need. They fit on perfectly, and are of good grade steel (subjectively). They are solid. I'm pleased with this tool given the cost and the features you get for it. If you want it to be pristine on arrival, it won't arrive that way. The tool is bubble wrapped, as are the accessories, but they are free to bounce around in the box. The first display also had a scratch on it from transit I think.
