These extended reach pliers are essential for removing/replacing the PVC valve on a 2.5L Ford Ranger engine. IYKYK.I cut some old vacuum hose into 1 to 2 inch sections and slip the pieces over the plier ends to avoid damaging the actual vacuum lines, works great.Can the job be done without these? Sure, but it's no fun trying to get arms larger than a 4 year old's downfar enough to grab the vacuum line and PCV valve. (It's located on the lower driver side of the engine, obscured by just about anything the engineers could think of throwing in the way).They work on the spark plug wires too, which the engineers also played a great game of hide and seek with.I've used these pliers for more than I can remember, these two examples just come to mind.Oh, another use for these is reaching the clips on some headlights for removal or bulb replacement, such as on my 2000 Ranger.They're great for anything that's out of reach of a normal set of pliers.A good set to have in the tool box.

I am working under the dash on a 1961 Corvette to replace instrument lights. It is incredibly tight up in there. These pliers are ideal for this application. The combination of long reach and double-jointed jaws make this tool indispensable. If I never used them again, they would still have been a great investment. Quality is fine for a $20 item that one uses a handful of time. Love them!

They have a very heavy-duty feel to them and gives the impression that it could withstand alot of punishment. Both pliers teeth interlock at the end when closing, allowing for a firm grasp on the item you are attempting to retrieve. Compound-joint gives for a more compact tool, giving you access to tight spots that single-joint pliers cant. This feature allows you to open the jaws as wide as a normal plier, but with less handle-spread than your single-joint pliers, which makes this perfect to have for those "oops" moments when a bolt drops near the engine of an automobile, for lack of a better example. Handle feels more like a rubber material and will leave stains and marks, so be forewarned. Overall, very happy with this product and I highly recommend.

Crescent still makes some quality tools. These are the best long reach pliers I have ever had. The design lets them go in very narrow spaces that other long reach pliers can't get in. The price was good and the quality was excellent. I have bought 2 other types of pliers made by Crescent and they are also better designed an built than anything I have used in the last 50 years.

I have a colleague with a full set of Snap-On tools in his massive tool box that must have cost him several grand. He has too many of these to count. But this one does just as good. Easy action, plenty of torque to hand grasp ratio. works like a charm... not as expensive as Snap-On.. just keep it clean, and oil it to keep it from rusting. The quality of steel is not as good as Snap-on. But with a little preventive care, keep your tools oiled, and clean, they will last just as long as the high dollar tools.

Not a cheap product, but after using it a few times, the cost is definitely forgotten. I only wish I had invested in this years ago as they would have saved me a lot of time and frustration. The tools are very well made and will probably last for years. Whether you are car mechanic, an RC model builder (like me), these will definitely make you life easier on those odd occasions when you have to work in confined spaces. The double action hinge is fabulously effective and means you can do just about anything in the tightest of workspaces! 5 stars all round!!! :-)
