I have an old single handle Sears faucet, item # 702.207810. It still shows up on the Sears parts website but shows parts no longer made, no substitute available. Long story short, my faucet was evidently made for Sears by Valley, and now Danco makes parts that are identical.

There are several YouTube videos, which describe how to install this cartridge. A few things I found lacking from the videos though: (1) the cartridge parts. All have little tabs and notches, and you must pay attention to fitting these together when you reinstall the cartridge; (2) the handle hex wrench size needed to remove the Valley faucet handle is 1/8â€; (3) the little white plastic ring embedded on the front end of the faucet Bonnet nut is an adjustment to tighten or loosen the faucet stem and handle (clockwise to tighten and the reverse to loosen). Although there is a special tool you can buy online at plumbingsupply.com that fits in the two slots, you can also easily move it with a small screwdriver or two; (4) pay particular attention to how the old cartridge comes out as well as the two spring rubber seals. Reassemble in the same way that they come out. I even take photos to be sure and get it right. I hope that these tips are useful to you. Although the job is not a difficult one, you must pay close attention to what you’re doing and not get the cartridge upside down and to also make sure that all the tabs are in their respective slots.

Regarding the little white part that's at the back of the cartridge, be sure to position the two holes on the top, and make sure the slot at the front of the cartridge is lined up correctly on the left side. Otherwise, the problems you might have are: water will leak, the handle will not be tight, and the on and off will be reversed. After I had removed all the old parts, I had to hire a plumber, because the rubber washers were too tight for me to remove. (I decided not to struggle with it for who knows how many hours it would take...) The plumber had never worked with a Valley faucet before. He was able to remove the old washers quickly with long-handled needle nose pliers, but when he inserted the cartridge, the part in the back was positioned incorrectly (only one hole was on the top). The water still leaked, the handle was not tight enough, pushing the handle up turned the water off, and pushing the handle down turned the water on, which is the reverse of the way it's supposed to be. I told the plumber that I would try to fix it. I figured I had researched this product enough that I would be able to find the problem--and was anxious for him to leave, because I had no faith that he would figure out and fix the problem. After the plumber left, I removed all the parts, except for the rubber washers and springs, changed the position of the part in the back of the cartridge, so that the two holes were on the top, and then reassembled everything. Now it no longer leaks, the handle is tight, and pushing the handle up is on and down is off.One more thing: When screwing the bonnet back on, I used a screwdriver to hold the little white part in the front of the cartridge into place, so it wouldn't slip out and come forward, which will cause the handle to be loose. So glad this is done!

The replacement valve fit right. You will need to order a seats & springs kit seperately. This is only the valve assembly for a single handle shower valve. The seats and springs are behind it and seal tight against valve assembley to prevent leaks.I do recommend this replacement part.

My older Valley water selector was leaking so I ordered this one. All seems to be working well now. Installation was fairly easy. Recommend

I bought this cartridge to eliminate dripping from my shower. My only complaint is that it did not include the springs and seats necessary to complete the job. The seats and springs only cost about $4.00 and I got them at the local hardware store, but it would not make sense to replace the cartridge without the seats and springs. Otherwise, it was easy to install. Good value for the money. The leak is fixed!!

Fixed the leak for just a few bucks, awesome. Get a set of new springs and seats to go with it while you're at it.

This was the perfect replacement for a 35 year old shower with a Valley single handle faucet. The diverter spout was starting to drip and the part wasn't available at any of the plumbing supply stores in my town. I hired a plumber to install the new cartridge, as well as new seats and springs, after learning that it is a bit fussy to install. I found a great YouTube video of a plumber installing the parts, that could be helpful for a handy person. My plumber did a great job and the spout has stopped dripping. This part saved me from installing a new valve and trim kit, a much more complicated job. The price is high for a simple part and could likely be purchased for half the cost in a larger city from a plumbing supply store. It needs to be installed with silicon grease. The seats and springs are also available at Amazon.

The cartridge leaks when I turn on the water. I am not pleased with this product.
