There were similar listings at a cheaper price, but they were not Delta. Those reviews were not as good. Hands down it was worth it to pay a few more dollars. The part was here in no time at all. It fit as well as the super old one that was in the faucet. The best part? I didn't have to pay a plumber several hundred dollars! It was quick, easy fix for this 60 year old woman.

This is the Delta original oem replacement for the showe cartridge. My shower unit was a series 1400 - the information is on the shower plate below the on/off handle and was the pre 2006 model. This is a perfect fit for it.I bought some of the Kroil penetrating oil spray (expensive but by all accounts the best) and doused the grub screw that holds the handle on for 48 hours before attempting to remove it (did not want to risk stripping the hex head if it was stuck) - it can out without problemFortunately for me the brass retaining nut had only been installed finger tight (as per Delta instructions, so that came off easily too.THe cartridge was a little more difficult - its held in place by the o-ring round it - a little judicious levering with thin blade screwdrivers managed to persuade it to come out.Whole process took about 30 minutes for me - no more dripping shower head!!There are a number of good videos on YT to see how to do it I suggest you watch them . Why pay the plumber big bucks to do this easy fix???Note that you can buy the Delta replacement washers/seals and springs to replace the originals in the cartridge and save more $$$ - again there are YT videos that show how to take the cartridge apart to do it (again very simple - just compress slightly and twist to get the cartridge apart. So I am replacing the seals and springs in the cartridge I took out with Delta springs and seals to keep it as a spare (I have three of these shower units in the house - only a matter of time before they leak as well.)Maybe its just me - but I will stick with the Delta original parts - whether it leaks or not depends on the quality of the rubber and the springs in the cartridge unit making the water seal. The original Delta parts in my shower lasted 20 years, so I want the same quality of rubber in the replacements. Who knows what grade materials are in the "knock-offs"???

Fit perfectly into the body of the control and has a nice rotatable knob to set the max temp. That is far better than the old one which required some strange and not intuitive adjusting. It could be my imagination, but it seems there is a more gradual action in selecting the temperature. The original unit was sooo sensitive and had to be adjusted by the millimeter. Action is smooth and it doesn't leak, the reason I needed it. Previously I bought a little kit with springs and seals, but this is a lot better.I think it is too expensive and I had to take a star away for that, perhaps unfairly. The manufacturer's web site is very good at helping you get the right part, so good that I reinstated the star I was going to remove. There are lots of videos regarding the installation.Turn off the water and put a washrag over the drain. I can assure you that anything you drop will bounce directly into an open drain. The work demons never sleep. The hard part can be loosening the allen screw that holds the handle on. If you are to have any chance of success you must have allen wrenches and pick the right size. Also, there is a brass ring/collar that you have to unscrew and remove. Be very gentle using big arc joint pliers or a big pipe wrench as the ring will deform. I used a tool that has a strap that grabs the part evenly and gently. One of the thousand tools a homeowner will need at some point...Using big pliers or vice grips, pull on the blue part straight out. It might take some effort and wiggling around. Clean out the innards of the control with a rag, push the new cartridge in making sure the arrow on front is up. screw on the brass retaining ring. Turn the water supply on, slip the handle on without screwing it on. Turn it to hot. If it is too hot, especially if there are unaware people using the shower, slip off the handle and set the front dial to colder. Mine was set to barely warm by default, to save on lawsuits most likely and I had to set it to hotter. Then slip on the decorative tube and screw on the handle. It is normally not necessary to unscrew the escutcheon (decorative) plate. I had to because the brass collar thing was so deeply inset that I needed to be able to get to it.

Seems like a genuine delta part. Packaging was already open/torn up. It could have been that somebody had returned it and seller resold to me. I'd already bought another backup from Home depot in case this one did not work. Plumber was able to get it to behave and not drip after few tries and thorough cleaning of shower assembly. Cartridge is working fine for last 1 month. Key is to make sure you clean the shower assembly/housing which holds the cartridge with wire brush.4 rating due to packaging issue and giving me heartache that I might have bought a fake :)

We had a leaky faucet due to very old parts and bad seals. The replacement took about 5 minutes: shut off the water supply, unscrew the handle, remove the old unit, put the new unit in, reassemble, and turn the water back on. Overall, it was very easy to do, and stopped our leaky faucet.

It looks like it’s been re-packaged.Unfortunately it doesn’t shut off.It drips twice as fast as the original I replaced it with.I made sure the valve seats were free of calcium deposits and applied plenty of plumber’s grease to the o-rings before installation.

Have tried the 3rd party replacement brands from HD, but they simply don't fit - I've had multiple issues with the fit/tolerance being slightly off, so they don't go in smoothly. If they did, I'd use them since they're cheaper. And for some reason, HD price for this exact product was almost double than on Amazon, not sure why. Anyways, good buy/price.

My shower started leaking after 15 years of usage. I replaced the cartridge and problem fixed. Installation instructions are clear and it was very easy to install.

I bought it as the shower in a condo I bought was dripping. The condo was built in the 90’s and I assume the fixtures are original to the era. Make sure you clean the insides where the cartridge will go in from any calcium deposits and that will make a world of a difference. I used CLR and a toothbrush. After installing make sure you regulate the hot water mixture as I believe it is set on the coldest setting.Overall the part fits and does it’s job.

The old adage about not making things like they use to definitely applies to this product. I moved into my current home over 15 years ago. The place was only about 5years old, so that makes the original Cartridge about 20 years old. It started dripping about a month ago. YT has tons of DIY videos. Did my research and ordered this item. BUY A STRAP WRENCH! It's worth it. Shut the water and the old cartridge pops out easily enough and the first thing I notice is how much heavier the old cart was vs the new one. Proceed to install it and the faucet handle and notice how much "lighter/less effort" it takes to turn the water on/off. The old cart was mainly metal (brass?) inside the plastic housing and the new one is mostly plastic (only the tip where you attach the faucet handle is metal. So while the new cart works and my shower is now drip free, it feels flimsy when turning the water on/off and I doubt the new one will go 20years before needing to be replaced again.

My old Faucet was leaking badly and had to buy a new cartridge. This cartridge was easy to install and fit perfectly.
