We had a closet upstairs that had an old pull chain lightbulb in it. I hated reaching up for the chain, so I bought this item and it worked perfectly. It was so easy to screw into the light socket and mount the remote right outside of the closet. Great purchase I would definitely recommend.

Excellent!!! Perfect for older homes with old fashioned pull-string lights with no wall switch!With this adapter, you don't need to call an electrician to wire a wall switch for a ceiling light. Just use your existing fixture (or upgrade to a non-string-pull fixture), screw the bulb into this adapter and you're ready to go! You can mount the switch on your wall, or anywhere handy, or use it hand-held! You can get rid of your old fixture's pull-string (just make sure to turn the fixture ON first). Now your light turns on and off (and is even dimmable with a dimmable bulb) at the touch of a finger on the modern, wireless wall switch. This is also excellent for remotely switching table and floor lamps on and off from a room entryway, instead of tripping in the dark to reach the lamp. This is excellent for safety for elderly or disabled individuals. Just make sure your lamp or fixture has enough room inside to accommodate the added dimensions of the adapter, as it won't fit in every fixture with the bulb. Also, it's possible that a smaller bulb could be used for your application to make it work.I am very pleased with this excellent product!

Like many other buyers, I am using this in a closet where the chain cord on the overhead light (1) broke frequently and (2) was deep into the closet so I had to walk in the dark and try to find the chain. I mounted the DEWENWILS switch inside the closet on the wall right by the door - right where you'd like a switch! So I have my switch operation without having to do a big electrical job. It has been working great and I am online today because I am going to order a second one. I noticed one buyer said he ran into a problem having 2 of these controls because if he turned on one closet light, the light in the other closet also responded and turned on. I am hoping since my closets are on 2 different floors, there won't be any interference. One other thing: just as reported by another buyer, the fluorescent light on the switch plate doesn't work - doesn't glow in the dark. Annoying but not critical. Manufacturer really should address this or remove it from the product.

In my husband's shop he has lights that were put in without switches. He would have to turn off the breaker or leave the lights on. I was looking to replace the lights with ones with pull strings when I found these. They work great. I will be buying a couple more for other areas.

I purchased this to replace a 9V battery powered wireless light switch that I previously had mounted, with blu-tak, on the wall directly opposite a 4m wide kitchen from the desired light. This switch, even after following provided instructions for pairing switch with light socket, would not turn the light off from that distance. On, yes; but not off.I moved the switch mounting plate to the side of the refrigerator, less than a meter from the light, and much less convenient than beside the door from which we enter the room, where it had been, previously. I found, there, that the switch plate will NOT magnetically adhere to the side of the refrigerator, because the magnets are in the hand-held switch itself, and not in the plate, which only has a couple steel ingots, loosely stuck in place with brittle, fragile glue--dropping one ingot the moment I first moved the switch away from the plate. This might not be an issue, except that the switch *still* won't fully function without me pulling it out of its plate.Mounted barely a meter from the light, it refuses to turn the light off (consenting only to on), unless I remove the switch from the plate and hold it a few cm from the light.The watch battery in the switch arrived with a plastic card in place, to keep it disconnected, so I have to assume it had a fresh and full charge. But it fails at what I would have expected would be a rather simple job, given the operative range mentioned in the description (100m).I'm glad the switch was relatively inexpensive, but it sucks to have to buy yet another one, and search for a more reliable brand, when virtually all varieties of this product, on Amazon, come from hitherto unknown manufacturers, named with barely pronounceable dipthongs and clumsy consonant blends.

Love this light. The dangling chain pull light in the Pantry was a pain, too high for my wife to reach without a stool, adding a string was ugly. Installed this in the light fixtures, mounted the wireless switch to the coffee cart across the room where it is very accessible.

Works well in our small laundry room where we have busted the string light a couple of times already and it was bothersome to be calling electrician to always replace the bulb and pull-string to fix it. This remote control light bulb is so easy to install. The OFF button is a little less sensitive but overall we are happy to have it now instead of calling for maintenance.

Put it in a room in basement where you had to walk in bouncing of things to pull cord to turn light on. Did not want to rewire it to put a switch in. Instead bought this and within a few minutes had a light I could turn on before going into room.

Below is my original review which received 1 star. Dewenwils contacted me through Amazon after I posted the review below. As you'd expect from a decent seller, they wanted to make it right. After I completed some troubleshooting at their request, they decided the base was working but the remote was faulty. They sent me (directly) a replacement set at no cost. The replacement works as described by the manufacturer. It's ideal for my purposes and as Dewenwils said in a previous email to me, this new switch set does not cause interference with another Dewenwils remote switch I have in close proximity. All in all between the email exchanges I had with their customer relations to address my questions and the troubleshooting, I received the replacement set in about a week. l'm happy they contacted me and made the effort to address a faulty product that somehow got passed their quality control process, assuming they have one. Thank you Dewenwils. Original review follows...This is not the first time I purchased this product and had problems. The current issue with my most recent purchase is that the switch turns the closet light on, however it does not turn the light off. This version has the magnetic/removable remote feature allowing you to 'unhook' the hand held remote from the wall mounted face plate. That's the only saving grace here because I have to hold the remote within a few inches of the socket in order to switch the closet light off. Where I have it wall mounted is no more than 36 inches from the base/socket. So why it turns it ON but not OFF is a complete mystery. There is a little red indicator light on the remote unit which flashes rapidly whenever you use the remote. I assume this is an indicator telling you the remote is transmitting to the socket. This red light flashes the same regardless if I'm tapping the ON or OFF portion of the switch. I've reprogrammed the switch by following the instructions provided with the product but still, it fails to turn the light off unless I hold the remote right next to the base.I started this review by stating this is not the first time I purchased this product. Previously I had problems where this switch would activate other lights I have in my house. Other lights that I didn't want activated. When I contacted Dewenwils they denied responsibility saying that the problem was caused by interference with other Dewenwils switches because their pre-programmed channels were the same. Dewenwils said the only fix was to return the unit to Amazon and hope that the replacement that Amazon sends would be a programmed to a different channel. Really? That's Dewenwils business model?Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. Thus my review title... I really should have known better.
