Absolute Mode and Relative Mode
- Setting an alternate reference point allows you to set any angle to ZERO. This new ZERO is now a reference point from which to take measurements. For instance, you may want a surface that is actually 25° off absolute zero (horizontal) displayed as ZERO so you can measure all other angles relative to that benchmark.

The Abizarch Digital Angle Finder Magnetic Angle Gauge LCD Digital Level tool was ordered because of a need to confirm angles, obviously, but not what one would think. It is being used to determine the angle between the spine and bevel on straight razors. In that the accuracy for this 'need' isn't crucial ( it only needs to see if angle falls within range of 16 to 18 degrees - the angle of creating the best edge for sharpness on straight razors), my hubby isn't going all-out critical on the fact that it isn't providing a 100% absolutely perfect number. It takes a little concentration to ensure that the lower edge of the tool isn't resting on your table top (table top or other surface already confirmed as to degree of level, of course). And, hubby is pretty sure there exists a tool specifically designed for straight razor angle measurements but this one had an agreeable price point. It works great for hubby's needs!

Had an absolute and relative feature for angle measurement. Used in it on my table saw to dial in the blade angle relative to the table surface.

Works for general use. I'm not sure about the precious as I mounted it on a high precision tilt table at work and the angle readings seem to be slightly off. But for small jobs around the house it will do the job.

This is my second such device, and this is not my favorite. To start with, the original instructions are SO tiny they could not be read. However, the manufacturer listened to users and included an "enlarged" sheet - they are still tiny but can now be read ...with a magnifying glass. They also include a mini screw drive and a case, which makes using it so much easier. But they did not bother including any AAA batteries to get you started.The readout displays to two decimal points. That may be too many - it jumps around a lot at the slightest horizontal wiggle (which does make sense if the surface is not absolutely level). And I have yet to get measurements taken off a machinists square to add up to 90deg. It's not hard to switch between relative and absolute mode (just press the power/ref button) , but mine appears to be so sensitive, that it does not like to go to "0" unless I am pushing down on the device. If I simply set it on a surface, it does a lot of waffling, and at best, tends to vacillate between 0.00, 0.01, and 0.02.That said, for my purposes, I can ignore the last digit.

this would not calibrate to 0 and the directions are printed so small that I could not read them even with a magnifing glass

Handy tool for a DIYer to keep things (generally) straight & level without the need for a long spirit level.It's reported accuracy is to 0.01 degrees, but for general household use, I'd consider anything The display is clear, intuitive to use (don't really need the included manual), and seems accurate as far as I can tell. The only thing is I wish the battery compartment didn't use a screw... what's wrong with just a catch not requiring any extra tools?! ... but it'd be harsh to deduct a full star for that.

This is a small, light digital level that has a good strong magnet in it to hold it on metallic surfaces. It includes instructions, but they are tiny and difficult to read. I am not sure WHY they have used a screw on battery compartment lid, but that is a huge annoyance and I am sure it will only be a matter of time before the incy wincy screw gets dropped and lost, or the tiny screwdriver gets misplaced. At least it only uses 2 AAA batteries (not included) so you can buy 4 and have spares for something else.
