The unit comes well packed in a very nice box with a single page manual that is the Size of an Iphone 15.The 4x AA batteries are preinstalled and the unit is pretty much ready to go.The hardware feels very solid except for the buttons and Trigger which kind of feel a bit cheap and hollow but the Case, Display and the Probe itself are very well made.If you think your going to take this straight out of the Box and just start grabbing items your in for a lot of frustration. These devices have a learning curve and you need to spend an hour or more getting use to the spacial awareness of the distance and the Camera rotation and the Zoom level.Since the Manual is pretty much useless here is what I found. My Suggestions1) Orientate the Camera by twisting the front so that the Marker on the Top is upright.2) Extend the Claws and with the other hand turn them until they are in the position you need for the job.3) Turn Off the Zoom as I find it makes things a lot more confusing.4) Turn up the light level to max except if your in a Pipe that is highly reflective.5) The Camera will never stay orientated properly for long. As you bend the shaft the Camera will rotate.I would say 1" pipe is about the smallest pipe that this can fit in and it won't be able to navigate a bend unless the pipe or opening is at least 2" wide. The Claws are replaceable and they even give you a tool to remove them but the problem is the instructions have no details on how to do this. I think I see a way to do it but I am not going to mess with a brand new unit and possibly break it.Overall after spending an hour or two with it I got the hang of it and feel pretty confident using it to grab something in an emergency. It was actually helpful in getting out some stuff that had fallen behind a heavy dresser drawer and it made for good practice. Don't try to practice with the Wand floating in free air. It needs to be sliding down a surface so that it stays fairly steady.Overall very happy with it, just wish the Instructions were better.
