I recently bought a 2004 Tahoe from my uncle and wanted to catch up on changing all the fluids in it since his maintenance records were a bit spotty. The vehicle didn't get driven a whole lot under his ownership, and he mostly just kept the vehicle at his beach house in Delaware for the purpose of launching his jetski. When I got under there to change the rear diff fluid, I discovered the diff cover was severely rusted from many years of Atlantic ocean dunks. The hardware was in bad shape too. I could've bought a fancy diff cover from ARB or OX or something, but since there were many other maintenance items to take care of on the vehicle, I opted for a standard, stock replacement. This Dorman cover fit the bill. I also paired it with a LubeLocker LLR-G850 gasket because with the sway bar and panhard rod in the way of removing the cover, I didn't want to have to worry about smearing the RTV while sliding the cover in place.All-in-all, this cover fit great, looks great, and should serve for a good long time since I don't have any marine craft to launch. Along with the new, SS hardware, this thing looks waaaaay better now and should be much easier to service the next time around.Just FYI, I read some reviews that stated the threaded plug on the diff cover wasn't fully tight when pulled out of the package. I gave mine a snug and barely got 1/8th rotation out of it, but worth checking yours.

Perfect fit. Very happy with Doorman products. I also used their cab vents . 07 Chevy Silverado classic.

Not my 1st one of these. They're a great solution for older rust belt vehicles where the housing plug is rusted so bad it requires welding a nut on to remove. In many of those cases, the cover is rusty and leaking or ready to anyhow, so this cover is cheaper than the labor to remove and replace the 3/8' drive plug. Dorman has a not so great reputation lately, but this product is a win.Negatives are minor: They could do better on the plug, but's it's serviceable with a little Teflon tape or thread dope, otherwise you'll have seeping plug. A coat of Rustoleum or cold galvanize ion the bare steel exterior is recommended. No gasket or bolts included. Plan accordingly. The gasket required is a FEL-PRO PN RDS550281. Moto-seal, or RTV will work in a pinch.

Made well and exact fit. Only thing it does not come with a gasket so make sure you order one separately.

This Differential Cover was exactly what I needed. My original Differential with 140K miles was rusted and to the point where the old gasket was severely attached. Both the gasket and the cover fit exactly without any issues and cut my installation time down dramatically. I did this all in my driveway without lowering my spare tire on my 2007 Tahoe LT. Just use the right size tools and if you have air tools to remove the old bolts, life is golden. I paired this purchase with a new set of ARP 4373002 Stainless steel rear end cover bolts and everything has been great thus far. It's been well over a month since being installed haven't seen any leaks. Make sure you torque the bolts accordingly (I'm not sure the torque specs off the top of my head) and also use a little hi-temp silicone gasket to help keep the gasket in place on the cover, this will help if you're doing this installation alone.Other then that, this item has been good to me so far and I hope it will last as long as the original. By the way, you may want to lightly sand and spray paint the front of the cover to protect it from any surface rusting. I sprayed mine with a hi-temp silver colored spray by Rust-O-Leum (I think that's how you spell it). After letting it dry, its so much better and gives the bottom of my truck a fresh look. Also, make sure you torque the fill plug to spec after you're done filling the differential. The fill plug is PURPOSELY not tightened when shipped, this way you can remove it before filling the differential.

I purchased this Differential cover because the original cover and gasket leaked. Purchased for a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 4X4 5.3 engine. It came brand new as advertise with the fill up plug in the cover as shown. Extremely shiny with it being just as the picture displays. The gasket also comes with the product. The price here on Amazon was the cheapest I can find. I drained the old fluids in the differential. Scraped the old gasket off. Placed the new gasket on, (do not add a gasket maker with the gasket, it will cause a leak)hand tightened all the bolts first to make sure the Differential cover goes on evenly and snugged it tight with a ratchet. It took me 20 minutes, since I decided to take my time and not get a jack. The fill plug on the cover itself makes it more convenient to refill. I added my 75w-90 synthetic mobil gear oil, and no leaks. Great product! Extremely shiny! Cheapest price, with it being a quality metal part. You can not go wrong, unless you order the wrong part, lol. Get one if you need it.

Very happy with my purchase for the price. Magnet is not the strongest on the plug but it works. I opted to paint mine using engine paint. Yes it DOES come with a gasket and after comparing the enclosed gasket with the Fel-Pro I actually decided to go with the enclosed gasket and no leaks using Amsoil Severe gear synthetic. I love the synthetic but it does tend to find any leaks so I'm super happy that the included gasket worked well with no leaks. Be sure and get a nice clean surface before installing, I spent probably 45 minutes removing rust and polishing the sealing surface prior to installation but apparently it was all very much worth it. I saw lots of conflicting information on the web about bolt torque. I went with 14 in/lbs and lubricated threads on my metric pumpkin cover. Yours may vary.

The cover itself is nicely and thickly formed steel. It should help sealing the rear diff on my suburban and not leak like the original one that it came.Just make sure both surfaces are clean and oil free before sealing the diff back up.Love the fill plug. And I am hoping to be able to use a hand pump to pump the old fluid back out in the future so I don't have to drop the cover.

Perfect fit for my 2004 Sierra 10 bolt. The cover is just bare steel so you will need to prime/paint it to make sure it doesn't rust.-Bolt size for my 2004 was M8-1.25×25 (plus new washers) as I did not reuse the OEM bolts.-I torqued the bolts in a criss-cross pattern, starting at 15 ft/lbs, then to 20ft/lbs, then finished at 30 ft/lbs.-I used a new Fel-Pro gasket, no sealant or RTV. No leaks. The only downside I can think of is the fill plug. It has what looks to be a magnet in the middle of the plug, but it isn't very strong. Overall very happy with the product.

Listed as will not fit for OBS (88-98) but will it will. In the photos the black diff cover is listed for OBS, but has no fill plug. In the 2nd photo you can see the holes and tabs all line up.If you want to replace your OBS diff cover and the fill plug on your diff is rotten, this is a great alternative.Note: this diff cover isn’t chrome, it is uncoated metal. Will require paint.

Perfect fit, very good thickness. The only thing is when the vehicule is leveled, the filling plug on the cover is 1-1/4 lower than the differential oem filling plug.Good buy for the price.
