These work perfectly on my propane camping stove and my propane lantern. I love that they can be refilled easily from a 20lb tank which saves me a ton of money. I can refill these for under $1.00 a shot, the disposable tanks are now going for about $5 OR $6 each and sometimes more so this pays for itself pretty quickly I have already refilled the tank about 3 times so far. Now this is a special filling system but again even after adding that cost in I figure after several more fills I will break even. Plus the fact they are safe and legal to refill is a serious plus. You can also tell these are made better than the disposable tanks, thicker, better quality welding, better valve assembly and the fact that 99% of places can't even recycle the disposable tanks, these keep TONS of metal waste out of the landfill. So this comes out as one of the few eco-friendly options that I have found that actually saves you money pretty quickly. Your return on investment will be pretty quick if like me you burn through a couple of these every time you go camping.

I have filled many disposable 1 lb. propane tanks and got to be pretty good at it. This kit makes it almost effortless. I used the freezer method and always superchilled the tanks because I found it was the most effective way to get a full or nearfull tank without having to mess with the safety valve, a fairly awkward process at best with the shorty type adapters. When I discovered this device, and the compatible certified refillable tanks, I became more interested the more I investigated them. I actually bought 3 tanks, so with the tank that comes with the kit I have four. In the past , I found that using a superchilled disposable I frequently overfill by anywhere from one to three ounces. Not everytime but maybe 1 out of three if I fill with a full 20lber on a warm day. I weigh all my filled tanks and bleed off any excess for this reason.I have read that 1 or 2 ounces should not be an overfill issue , but there are many accounts if you search of bulging disposables that were overfilled so I don't take a chance. Anyways, having filled 4 tanks I can attest that the Flameking filling process is very accurate if followed as directed on their instructional video. Each tank was filled until I saw vapor/liquid just start to come out the bleed whole, and each fill weight was dead on, never over 16.4 ounces and very little under, no less than 16.2, or 16.3. This is very accurate for an eyeball method, although I always weigh and will always continue to due so, for my own piece of mind, and I would highly reccommend to anyone to weigh every tank.. A very accurate oz/gram scale can be had on Amazon for $20. The Flameking refillable tanks , contrary to what some have implied are very robust; but don't expect 20 or 100 lb tank gauge material. They only hold one pound! When filled properly they are more than adequate with the added benefit of a proper relief valve built in , just like the bigger tanks. Additionally, the buisness end is all very nicely machined brass, so guess what, no rust which often instigates stripped threads. The bleeding screw on the tank, plus the offset tubing that gets the small tank out where you can easily work on it makes the whole thing, once set up, a two minute process with no need to chill tanks or fumbling with needle nose pliers trying to hold open a overpressure valve that wasn't designed to be used in that fashion(is that really safe?). I actually was seriuosly considering modifying the valve unit(which would not be hard at all) to be able to fill reusables but am so happy with the certified refillable tanks I'm just going to use them. Some have stated that $11 is too expensive for a one pound tank, but considering you get one tank with the kit I think it's a great deal. I'm able to get propane for about $2 a gallon right now, so that works out to about 60 cents per fill.I know this isn't for everyone but if you are using a lot of tanks and filling them yourself, this is definetly faster, safer, and you will be using a more robust cylinder in you device.A great package , in my opinion.

They work, they're easy to use. With one pound bottles at 7 or 8 bucks and a 20 pounder at 13 dollars, it's a no brainier.I get about 12 or 13 refills out of a 20lb bottle. Just doing math on the price of propane, this rig has already paid for itself many times over. It's a lil quirky, but well worth it.

The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that it’s very wobbly, fills fast though and I really like the ease of use although I would prefer a needle valve.

This is no more difficult or dangerous than filling up a propane tractor tank. They made those tractors since the 1930's. Back when propane cost was very low we had a 500 gal tank by the barn and we used it to refill the tractor as well as heat the house. I have read about some canisters are dangerous to refill. Either the tank refill was not grounded for static spark or they had leaks in filler or bottles. Let me think about those canisters that are supposed to be dangerous for a minute.....The storage cans are manufactured and filled with 1lb of fuel then shipped by truck to every department store and sporting goods store in the USA where they are stored within reach of the consumer for who knows how long before being sold. But, they claim they are dangerous. Really...? The only gas in the bottle is propane. If one of those cannisters goes off in a Wal Mart they will find the sporting goods department in the parking lot. They have an in valve, and a out valve. that will allow gas to escape if over pressurized. So I guess they are not very dangerous. What's dangerous is the people who don't follow some simple rules. Don't forget to make grounding wire to clamp on filler so you don't have a static spark. This kit was great and if the bottles for Flame King become available again, and don't cost much I will buy a few of those. Meantime my Coleman bottles (I have 10) refilled with no issues I just used a pair of forceps to lift the escape valve so the bottle can fill to 1lb of propane. Also a small scale like you use to weigh food is used before and after filling to make sure you do not exceed 1lb of propane. example would be the canister weighing .840 lbs before filling and it would weigh 1.84 lbs. after filling. Escape valve is connected to tube in bottle that if vented will let liquid propane out when bottle is at around 1lb of propane. But still check bottle for weight and leaks. Also wear gloves cans get cold when refilling. Remember always safety first.

Way too expensive for what you get! A simple cheap adaptor does the same thing!
