Uodate: i raised my rating because the seller reached out and refunded me no questions asked. Even if this product doesnt work for i highly recommend using this seller for other products.Original post: The pros is the box is a solid metal box, the outlet is a nice outlet, but the point is to be able to plug a normal plug into the box and close the door. The box settings isn't deep enough to do that.

We need to plug in a lamp that sits on a table between two chairs in our TV room, and also want to be able to charge our phones on that same table as well. Because of the layout of the room, the table pretty much sits in the center or the room. We've had to rely on an extension cord running to an outlet on the wall up to this point, which means the extension cord is both visible and a tripping hazard. This floor outlet seems like the perfect solution for our needs. Now we're still just waiting for an electrician to get back to us with a date to put it in. :)But the outlet is nice and heavy, the top plate is easy to open, and when ordering, there are a few different options to select from so you can choose whatever works best for your situation. I also like that the top plate appears to be flush with the rest of the unit which means it should be fairly easy to run a vacuum over. The allow steel also looks really nice in person.

The product is solid and well built. To close the lid, I had to change the plug ends on my couches. I also had to remove the flap covers on each end of the lid. Also, the recepticle box is square and the cover is round. There is not a lot of overlap between the two, so do not over cut the square hole if you are cutting in over finished flooring.

This is a 20-a outlet floor box. You can choose between a few options of the receptacle type. I chose the non-GFCI tamper resistant with USB outlets included. The usb outlets are great. Up to 24w so they fast charge. The box has a really nice look and it feels well made (heavy). The top plate is solid so I don't think it will ever bend/ break even with foot traffic. If you have hardwood, it does stick up a bit, so is best not installed in a high traffic area. If you have carpet, it cinches down so probably less of an issue. Installation can be a little tricky if you don't position the bottom piece correctly but it looks and works great when you are done. I really like the finished appearance, and I really like the cable ports on the lid which fold in to allow things to be plugged in and the lid can still close. Looks sharp. Good value!

I bought and installed this for my dad for christmas. The instructions were fairly useless, however, if you need instructions to install this, then you probably shouldn't be installing it. Pros-the type c and usb ports are great to have. Just buying an outlet like that costs about $30 normally. The cover is well designed. I like how the handle to open it folds flat and there are 4 slots that can be used to pull cords throw while still concealing the plug. Cons-1)not really designed for "old-work" installation. I used a combination of skill and luck to cut my hole exactly next to a floor joist and then screwed the box to the joist with a right angle adapter so it worked perfectly, but in many cases, you'd probably need access from below to add structure to secure the box. 2)the recessed outlet could be just slightly deeper. The plug for the lamp I plugged in was about 2mm too tall for the cover to close perfectly flat. I plan to remedy this with either a right angle type plug or replacing the lamp cord with the flat style, so not a deal breaker. 3) this is the biggest one. The circle cover seems to have a decent amount of coverage so that you feel like your hole doesnt have to be cut perfectly, but be very careful bc the 4 corners of the underlying box practically touch the outside edge of the circular cover. I have encountered this same issue before when installing a round exhaust fan cover over a square motor housing. At the 4 corners, your cut needs to be perfect and those are of course the 4 places where a perfect cut is the hardest to make. The cover could actually be smaller in terms of square inches/mm if they just made it the same shape as the underlying box but say about half an inch bigger than the box all the way around. As a round cover, it was about an inch and a half bigger than the box at it's widest point, but just a hairs width bigger at the 4 corners. I'm a paid professional and still had 1 very slight overcut that I had to touch up and my cut was so tight that I had to tap the box in with a hammer. I imagine an average diy-er might encounter the same issue. Overall, I'd definitely use this product again, just not neccesarily in every circumstance.
