I’m using this butyl tape to cover deck joists and tread RainEscape. This tape is much thicker than Trex and I’ve had no leaks! There are a couple of places where I had to remove a screw and it seems to plug the hole really well.

Premium price for this brand. I only know this because this is my 6th brand of butyl tape that I've picked up in the past few weeks. You think you're getting a deal because of the combo pack, but that's just not the case. To add insult to injury, I'm pretty sure all this stuff is made in the same factory and they just slap different stickers on them. Same thickness, coverage, and adhesion as all the other brands I've tried so I really don't get the inflated price. You can pick up single rolls for about 33% cheaper (at the time of this review) so how they justify that on a 4 pack is beyond me.

I know that they say this is for deck joists and beams, but I use it for so much more than that. I use this tape for seams on the RVs rooftop. I use it to wrap around my leaky hoses. I use it to stop minor leaks on the plumbing in my RV. A pretty much used the stuff anytime gaps need to be sealed or leaks need to be stopped. You just have to pull out the length you need and cut it then when you're ready to put it on, pull the clear tape off and you'll have a sticky side ready to go. This really is great stuff!

This tape is so good, it’s like a superhero for your deck! It’s waterproof, weather-resistant, and can protect your joists and beams from the elements like a pro. It’s like having a butler for your deck, but instead of fetching tea, it’s protecting your deck from water damage. It’s so easy to use, even a monkey could do it! Just peel, stick, and voila! Your deck is now protected from the elements. And with 4 rolls of 2" x 50’ tape, you’ll have enough to cover your entire deck and still have some left over for your neighbor’s deck, too!

I have built and repaired many decks over the years and always suggest - especially on new construction- the use of joist tape to help protect the bearing surface of the joists which is typically the most vulnerable area due to fastener penetration and the effects of moisture/dirt accumulating between the decking and top surface of the joists.I have used many different brands and prices of butyl tapes over the years and have found very little performance difference between them. The GCCSJ Deck Joist Tape Butyl Tape appears every bit as good as other products I've used while being available at a much more affordable price. I have not used the tape yet as I ordered it to use at a home I'm in the process of buying for myself. The tape thickness and adhesive quality appear on par worth other, more costly, tape I've used. I do like how easy the heavier clear plastic backing is to peel off than nearly every other tape backing I've encountered as well.I expect good performance out of this tape and greatly appreciate its value!

I have tested the tape on a few pieces and from what I can see it is as good as any I have used. Fortunately, a lot of these tapes are pretty good. I like the "mylar" backing rather than paper, though have had some want to shred at the start of the role , but easier than the paper to grab and start with the tip of utility knife, and generally after the first foot or so , peel just fine. Also couple last tips, if it is really hot and the tape is soft put it in a cooler or the fridge to cool it down, or if its cold, heat gun will warm it up very quick and make it tack right up. That also helps on OSB.
