The 200 Amp open transition switch is available in single phase with service equipment rated configurations and works in tandem with the generator to monitor the utility power. When utility power is interrupted, the transfer switch automatically transfers power from the utility to the generator. When utility power returns, the transfer switch will return the electrical load from the generator back to utility. This automatic transfer switch is the legal way to add generator back up power to your house or business. This one is automatic. Loss of power and the generator starts automatically and the transfer switch does its thing. If you are a DIYer, I suggest having a professional supervise or at the least install this for you.

not approved for canada but they sell anyway. They should not sell this item here now i am stuck with it since i could not get a disconnect from hydro one for October.

This product is not CSA Approved which means no home builder will allow this to be installed as it will not pass inspection.
