I used these to break apart a large section of ledge under a structure where blasting was not an option. Using good carbide 5/8" SDS bits made the holes go reasonably quick, ~11" deep. I used a 5lb sledge to drive them in. What I found is that when you are aligned with a cleavage plane, the ledge split beautifully. In other directions, it was very difficult. No problem with the wedges, packaged well, I actually bought two. Excellent value. They do come in various sizes so make sure you pick the correct ones for the job.

Gisafai 16 Pcs Heavy Duty Wedge and Feather Shims,5/8 Inch -- These splitter shims look to be heavy duty. Holes of 5/8“ diameter will need to be drilled in order to use them. I need to cut a hole in the concrete slab inside my house about 4 feet square. I’m trying to think of a way of doing that without cutting with a concrete saw or using a jack hammer for all of it. Both those tools throw an enormous amount of dust in the air. I’m going to attempt jack hammering a smaller starter hole and then split a little at a time off with these shims. I can vacuum those 5/8†holes as I drill them a lot easier than blocking off, draping and cleaning a whole room. If it does not work, I will come back and amend this posting.

I used these to take the top off of a few rocks to make a boat ramp. They are will made and work great.
