So I already have several tools in the Green works 80V series. And instead of renting an auger all the time, I thought I'd give this one a shot. Picked up a nice 10" auger bit from a local store and used it with this auger. In regular dirt with roots this thing performed like a champ. Hit one tree root over 2" in diameter and had to shift over. But it dug 7 holes in less than a minute each. Now on to the real test at my property in the forest. All the ground is basically rock and a little bit of dirt in between. I was very skeptical, but once again blown away! As before, this thing dug a full depth hole in less than a minute. It was kicking out 5"+ rocks just like dirt! And I was able to run this thing by myself. Even my family was beyond surprised! The reverse setting is helpful with big tree root snags, but normally unnecessary. All in all, I highly recommend this auger and everything else in the Greenworks 80V family of tools!

Very impressed with the power to drive the Auger and appreciated the reverse switch to back out the Auger for the newly made hole. However, the Auger purchased needed some customization in order to be attached to the tool and make use of the provided Spring Clamps. I drilled out the screw hole on one side of the Auger and used a bushing on the other side. Now it is totally awesome and works perfectly. I am very happy with the Tool. I drilled 15 holes for Plants in very short order and the tool used very little of the 80v battery supply.

Useless because doesn't come with advertised adapter and this doesn't fit any auger I can find anywhere. This is 7/8 and everything I can find is 3/4.Totally unusable.Update. I called support. After 45 mins on phone woman kept telling me "owners manual doesnt say it come with adapter so I can't send one". Even though on this sales page which is Greenworks own sale it says it has one.Very angry and will not buy greenworks products again. It's not my fault they made a mistake on their store page and listed something incorrectly. The fact that their customer service blames me and Amazon instead of acknowledging or fixing their mistake speaks volumes to the company ethos.Guess I'm returning this and never buying anything from Greenworks again.

I ran this on a brand new fully charged Greenworks 80v 4ah battery fully charged. I honestly could not recommend this auger to anyone who isn't very strong. It's fine for moist sandy loam soil. Cannot handle heavy duty work nor should it since there is no kickback feature. If you aren't very strong, no need to buy an auger like this unless you are going to modify it with a lever bar that you can lock in place to save yourself from grave danger. It's very strange to me that Greenworks didn't add this very critical feature that belongs on every low-end handheld consumer auger. There really ought to be warnings on the landing page for these products. Anyhow. The secret to making this work without ripping your body apart if you aren't quite strong enough is to hold it up enough to take off about half the weight of the auger + bit. If you don't, then it can screw into the ground just like a giant screw and once it gets deep in there... well... you may have trouble getting it out, especially in clay. Reducing the weight by lifting allows you to shave the soil/clay off at your desired capabilities, plus it helps you to avoid the auger from whiplash causing you injury. I'm dinging this mostly for safety reasons and a weak motor.

This auger is as powerful as I want it to be. It takes a readily available 7/8 inch shaft auger bit. Found a good selection of 7/8 inch shaft bits on Amazon. I'm drilling 8 inch holes. Found that drilling a 4 or 6 inch pilot hole allows the 8 inch to go better if drilling Stony or rooty ground. Loving this machine.

I was surprised that this worked so well on hard soil. It has a good bit of force so hold on tight. I also really liked that it has an LED light built in for low light work conditions.

This a strong, brushless electric auger. Apart from when you encounter larger rocks, I had no trouble drilling large holes to plant bushes and trees. Thankfully, it was usually able to handle and dislodge common rocks. This tool is probably not needed if just planting a few things, but when planting a bunch, hours of backbreaking digging was avoided.Another reviewer complained about the 7/8 bit size. 7/8 is stronger and very common for powerful gas powered augers, so buyers should have no problem finding auger bits. I found hundreds here on Amazon.

Battery no issue, torque was surprisingly goodDrill 17 4’ deep 8†holes with this. Struggled with rocks but so does a gas one. If you have green works battery already its a good price for saving some digging.
