Most people looking to replace the Canon OEM collar on their RF100-500mm zoom say they are doing so because the Canon collar slips. I've never had that problem with my lens, but I was looking for a third-party collar for two different reasons: (1) I wanted a built-in ARCA plate (big mistake by Canon on all their collars); and (2) a QD port. Yes, the Haoge is built in China, but it is of excellent fit and finish. The Haoge weighs the same as the Canon, but you have to add the weight of an ARCA plate onto the Canon, so the Haoge "system weight" is a bit less overall. The lens rotates smoothly within the collar, which includes two Teflon-like strips to prevent marring the lens during rotation. The Haoge collar even has index marks to align the camera into portrait or landscape orientation on the tripod. Even more than the ARCA plate, I wanted a collar with a QD port for use with my Peak Design shoulder strap. The QD port not works perfectly, but is located such that my R5 plus lens balances perfectly on the shoulder strap. Only two wishes: the ARCA plate should be 50% to 100% longer, and since this collar is specifically for a Canon L Series lens, it should have been powder coated Canon white (gray?) to match the lens. The ARCA plate is actually attached to the collar with screws, so nothing to stop Haoge from selling optional length ARCA plates, or provide different length options with the initial purchase. A definite upgrade to the Canon OEM collar for the RF 100-500mm lens.

The overall design is great! I have some trepidation about Chinese-made products on high-end cameras - they often don't fit perfectly and can (and have!) damaged the product. This, however, is excellent, and made to very high tolerances. It's smaller and lighter and is better for travel as it doesn't take up as much room in your camera bag. That was the main benefit. It has perfectly-fitting internal "grip" rings, and the internal ring non-slip padding protects the lens from scratching. U already have the Canon-brand ring, but got this as it was smaller and lighter. I recommend this.

A common complaint with the lens collar that comes with the 100-500 is that it easily comes loose. It's inherent in its design. This collar won't come loose, and from that standpoint, it stands head and shoulders over the Canon design. That being said, my biggest complaint is around the length of the plate. It should easily be twice as long, and double as a carry handle. Or at least give us two different plates, a short and a long.

I bought this tripod collar when I bent the original Canon one which I'd never been happy with anyway. This Haoge LMR-RF150 is smoother and more reliable than the original by far. I doubt it'll ever come off the lens now.

I haven't used this tripod collar in the field yet but ...it appears to be a superior replacement for my issue laden OEM tripod collar. First it is a better fit to the lens. Second, the issue of the collar breaking free and the lens falling to the ground, like has happened with my Canon supplied collar, is resolved with the design. Third, the built-in Arca style foot/plate is a big added bonus with this collar. Fourth, the foot is much more compact and is more comfortable to do handheld shots while leaving the collar on the lens! Time will tell how durable it is and more about its performance in time ...but my initial impressions are extremely positive!

This lens collar replacement has an "arca swiss" foot built in and tightens better the the supplied canon lens collar.

The original Canon tripod ring would not tighten enough and kept slipping when on a tripod. This easily fits the lens and is tight with no slippage whatsoever. Very pleased with the quality and price vs. original.

Since my RF 100-500 lens and camera have OD green vinyl skins applied, the black ring looks WAY better than the Canon off-white version. The Hoage LMR-150 Collar also seems to hold the gear in place better the the OEM collar which has worked loose on it's own a few times.Best of all, I no longer have to attach an additional plate just to mount the rig into my gimble head set up. That alone makes this a fantastic time-saving investment.Even though the foot on the collar is removable, I do not see ever having a need to do so. Still, I suppose there could be some situation in the future where I would need to remove it so I guess it's good to know that it is possible. Overall, very satisfied, highly recommended!

Very nice replacement for Canon RF 100-500mm. Arca swiss ready, very smooth rotation when loosen to use on a monopod (better than the original canon foot) and easy to install. Seems well built. I recommend!
