I bought these snow melt mats after a family member slipped on black ice and suffered a broken arm. They are easy to connect to each other and very effective at keeping snow & ice from forming. They have a textured surface, which provides additional shoe grip even when they're wet, as they will be when the snow & ice has melted. If there's a heavy snowfall before they are powered up, then the bulk of the snow will have to be removed. It only takes about 30 minutes or less to melt an inch of snow/ice. Once powered up, they will keep the walkway ice-free and safe to walk on. Just wish I'd bought them sooner than I did. They're a bit pricey, to be sure, but they can provide safe footing on an otherwise dangerous, icy surface. Highly recommended.

This is our third heat track mat we’ve purchased, and we love them! They protect the walkway to our porch and part of our porch from the ice and snow of the winter months!

thought that 1 of 3 of these 20" x 60" mats i just set up was not heating, but if you look at images, snow all around the yard but on the 2 mats coming from under the gate. . only an inch of snow but worth it thus far. in deeper snow we will see for certain. *BTW, Heat Trak custy service has been responsive answering amp-age and return questions.the mat which is not warming as well as the others is the furthest from the outlet, but as was Rx, i am using Heat Trak's 25' extension cord and 6' power unit plugged directly into an outlet dedicated to these mats and nothing else. so the extension to the power unit helped, but i also needed the extender from stairs to entryway. annoyed by the cost, as the title shows, but these are not cheap cords, they are really thick and brute. i don't know how they could fail being this sturdy. even under foot traffic.I invested $800 in these b/c I broke my pelvis in 4 places and - as of Jan.17 - i have 6 more weeks of healing before the broken bones are fused properly. I have fallen every winter on my icy stairs, so investment in those mats were a must. then I just got carried away realizing I won't be able to shovel b/c I also have broken wrist and arm/elbow. so i ordered 3 of the 20 x 60 for the walkway - which borders a feral cat feeder (so they will love these). i got the 10x48 inch stair treads abd could have save $120 and gotten away with 38". last member of the melting crew is a 20 x 30" doorstep mat. so far, all the other mats are heating as expected.a note about amps -ampage cannot exceed 13 for the single power unit. when planning your purchase, figure the distance of mats to outlet and then add the wattage. after 13 anps, you need another power cord unit. but i believe both can be on a single dedicated exterior power source/outlet. byt Heat Trak may be able to anwer that. i do know if you get the wifi power cord, there is room for 2 regular power cords plug into it, meaning you could run 26 amps worth of matting through a dedicated exterior circuit.after this winter, i will bring these to my 76 yo mom who lives in da burgh where it is noth colder with much more frequent snow accumulation. but for winter 2020, as confusing as these were to figure out (this is a me thing, not a Heat Trak thing), it will all be worth it to not fall going out the door to my home, giving my bones a better chance to heal without complication.

These mats are doing a great job keeping the porch and steps snow and ice free. I particularly like the seller's great customer service in helping us address some challenges with one particular shipping company. Thank you.

I have 2 other of these and needed a 3rd to ensure a warm, no snow, walk to the hot tub. These work great at melting the snow and giving a place to stand that is not freezing on your feet. I have mine connected to a wireless timer (not a heat trak) and it is perfect to pre-heat and/or melt snow if not using hot tub that day.

I live in Ontario, Canada and we get a lot of snow. We recently put in a hot tub and want to use it year-round. Even though it is close to our door at about 15 feet, it was very icy and cold to make your way to the tub. So I ordered these heat mats to put down to make the walk safer and more enjoyable. I do not regret it one little bit, lol. We’ve had a ton of freezing rain and snow this winter and not one thing has stayed on these mats. I haven’t noticed much increase in my electricity bill. I used two 10” X 48” mats and one 20” X 30” walkway mat to complete our walkway. We haven’t had any issues with them this winter at all. Its so nice to get out of the tub and into the house barefoot in the middle of winter!

The heat pads work ok. But the transformer plug piece is not to be used outdoors. Which makes the unit useless since its an outdoor use product. This is how they make there money. Sell you pads, then give you a transformer that needs replacing twice a year because it cant be used outdoor. Transformer works great indoors, but do not use outdoors in any capacity or it will fail for sure. Problem, the transformer is not water proof, and its only a foot away from pads, so if pads get wet, so does the transformer. Transformer can not get wet, cant have snow on it, can not get cold or it condenses inside and fills with water. Im now stuck buying another transformer , and try to cut and extend matt side of transformer to about 15ft so it can be indoors while matts are outdoors. What a stupid product. Outdoor products should be designed for outdoors. Or supply a plug that reaches outdoors so the transformer can stay inside warm and dry. So yes, I bought an Ice melting system that can only be used indoors. Boy do I feel stupid. THis product is a complete rip off and scam. Your gonna have to buy transformers every time you want to use it, for life. Expensive now isnt it.

The best invention ever. No snow or ice on steps. No chance of slipping. Although not cheap this product is worth every penny. Until we had this product, everyone had to come through a different entrance. Extremely satisfied. Highly recommended.
