Amateur beauty photographer - I purchase this boom arm because of the sand bag attachment hook and I needed an upgrade from the skinny arm that comes with the c stand. So far it’s very heavy duty, my godox light fits perfect on it, it fits perfect on my c stand, nothing came broken, the sand bag is small but it works and I like it. I definitely got a bang for my buck with this purchase. Easy to put together as well. The arm can be heavy so take your time and use a step stool if needed it made my c stand a little higher. It adjusts well and no problems with it.

I'm having a love-hate relationship with this thing. I love it. It is incredible how heavy duty it is. In fact, it's too heavy for my Flashpoint color-coded air-cushioned light stands. And that surprised the heck out of me. It works if I don't stick it out too too far but I really need to buy a C-stand and sandbag to get full use out of it!

The flimsy arms are not necessarily bad but they don't exactly induce a sense of safety on-set. They also tend to be quite small and with that in mind, I decided to pick these up.They're solid. I don't know if I'd call them "heavy duty" in the sense that they could handle 30+ pounds but for a 200 watt COB light and a parabolic softbox, they do the job just fine.These are so easy to adjust and they're light enough weight that it's not a pain to lug them around. The C stands I've bought seem to be of a thiccer metal despite supposedly being of equal duty and material (stainless steel) but that doesn't mean these still aren't great.The reason why I gave them four stars out of five is because the sand bag that comes was a different color from the photo (red instead of yellow lined) and also because the zipper to close up the bag is a single zipper and pretty cheap feeling. If you buy sand bags from NEEWER on Amazon, the bags have two zippers and that ensures they stay closed (though, I'll admit, the NEEWER bags also have cheap zippers but feels like less cheap ones than what came with this arm).All that said, I'm now buying two more of these which means I'll have a total of three. I'm also buying more sand bags as to me, the ones that come with this arm, are just too cheap feeling to be trusted.

This is a amazing piece of equipment. To me its the best boom on the market. Even better that Bogan.I have struggled with these things for years. This one is rugged, the controls are nice, and it can take some weight. After buying one - I laughed when it was in my hands - it made me happy, I bought two more to complete my three photo stations. I use it to hold a Paul Bluff strip light I use for a hair light. I cant believe the price for the value you get from it. Is truly the Sheet! lol

The arm is STURDY...OMG!! DURABLE...OMG! And, SO professional looking! I have put it together 1st day I got in with my AD600 and 48 inch (heavy) softbox on a metal C-stand and the arm did not even blink! Took it like a champ and held that up for as long as I wanted it to. If I have a need for a 2nd one or 3rd, I would NOT hesitate to order another! Very please with product and seller! Oh and despite what other may say, it's weighted, sure...I would HOPE so, to hold large, and heavy gear, but it is NOT unwieldy! Just buy it and enjoy it!

This was recommended by another photographer. Upon receiving, I thought it was weird that the unit already had aluminum shavings in the packaging.I hadn’t been able to use it until now.I’m not kidding you when I say, the Angle Adjustment Dial stripped after the FIRST time using it.I only had a 4lb strobe on the end and when I tightened it down (not over tightened) it started to slide down and shaving were spitting off of it.I immediately took off my $700 light and loosed the boom angle to see what was going on. Sure enough, stripped.Either this unit was defective or I received a used one from Amazon but now I’m so far over my return date, that I’m stuck with this useless junk.Honestly, I should have just spent the extra hundred and gone with a good product and the original from Matthews.I’m extremely disappointed
