I spent way too much money renting one of these things before realizing that I was going to need it much longer than expected. Considering this is the 2nd hardwood floor I've installed, and probably not my last, I decided to look into buying one of my own and not rushing through the project. I think I paid less than $90 for this, which was about 2 days worth of renting one for me, and it has been a good investment. The floors I installed with this had been sitting in boxes for years in my grandmother's home, which she lets get hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Much of the wood planks were bowed and installation was rough and slow. I had plenty of problems with this install but luckily this staple gun was not one of them. Worked beautifully at installing 3/4" prefinished oak wood. Haven't tried to change the height plate so I can't speak to 3/8" function. Came with a mallet. The first pic was what it looked like before attaching the handle (straight out of box, minus the plastic wrap) and I apparently failed to take a pic after it was all assembled. This was nicer than the one I spent all that money renting. Wish I had this for the first project I did. Seemed to work best at 70-90psi. As long as I strikes the mallet correctly with enough force, there were no issues with Staples. But I got lazy and distracted once, and didn't strike straight on... Sort of landed on the side, and I paid for that mistake. The staple didn't go in all the way and it made me sweat trying to pry that board up. I paid closer attention after that and also made sure my pressure was above 70psi (had to pry another board when my pressure got low).

Very good looking quality for the price. Came with everything it needs to get going except staples. Other than that, nice gun.

The nailer was so easy to use. went through an entire box of nails with no jambs. I did have a dozen or so times where the nail did not go all the way in but every single time it was because the pressure had dropped in my compressor. This was not the nailer's fault but the compressor - every time it re-pressurized i would have to adjust the pressure again. The only issue i have with the nailer is that there is a sharp corner where it rests against the tongue and if you drag it across the board sliding down to the next spot it can scratch the surface. As a few others have said right around 70-75psi worked for mine. as long as the pressure was up i didn't have to hit the head very hard at all. I used this all the way down to the third row hitting the head at an angle for the last one - unlike some other reviewers i did not notice any difference in hitting it square on or on the corners. worked great and was the same cost as renting one for 2 days!

Got this nailer to install a 3/4 inch hardwood floor in my house. Rather than renting a nailer, I decided to purchase my own. I used it with the 15 ga, 2-inch, Bostitch flooring staples to secure my flooring. It performed flawlessly with no issues. Air assist is much easier on the installer than hitting the old style nailers without air assist. This allows for perfect nail placement every time with fastners properly installed at the correct depth to avoide problems with the next row of hardwood. I would recommend this nailer to anybody who might install a hardwood floor. Can't speak to long-term quality because I have only had it a short time, but for my floor it performed as or better than expected.

70% through my hardwood floor installation and my 20 years old botish floor staper decided to stop spitting our staples. I thought I could save money by renting a floor nailer from Home Depot but then quickly found out that that it costs upper $60 to rent a nailer for an hour and about $150 for a day. I chose to buy this instead of renting. Received it in 2 days for being a prime member. completely finished my floor installation in 2 days time upon receiving the nailer. Speaking from a licensed contractor perspective, I would highly recommend it. it is a great tool for fraction of a rental price.

Waited to review until I completed a 650 sq-ft unfinished red oak (3/4" thick) install. Shot approx 5000 2" Powernail 16 gage L-cleat nails. Nailer worked perfectly throughout. 100 psi set the cleats well. Did not cause any damage to edge of flooring. I recommend if you're a homeowner with a DIY hardwood flooring project.

Was not an easy task laying reclaimed T+G floorboards, but this nailer, I couldn't have done without. It rarely jammed(usually when struck too gently)but was easy to clear with the quick release nose clamp!May not use it again but it's earned its place as a respected and quality tool and it can stay in the garage(workshop)

3 nails and it jammed. Then it continued to jam every nail. I went out and rented one to do the job. I do so much I was trying to get away from renting by purchasing.
