got the electric jar opener thinking it ran off electricity, but it use two double A batteries, I was surprised it used batteries or I wouldnรขโฌโขt order it.And Iรขโฌโขm not that fond of the battery operation. But it really does work I had a jar of salsa and had a bottle of salad dressing and I could not get the lids off these two items is the reason I order the Electric jar opener .Not sure if Iรขโฌโขm keeping it cause of the use of batteries, but other that it works good , little slow as that mentioned. But if you have arthritis, or having trouble using your hands of gripping this works good..

This is the first time I've used the Instacan jar-opener and it has been a complete failure.It not only will not open the jar, but it will not unclamp from the jar.When I pressed the power button, it clamped down tightly around the jar & lid like it is supposed to do. But instead of opening the lid, it just makes. a horrible loud screeching noise as if it is 'trying' to open the jar but is unable to move the lid at all.It just keeps making that loud awful noise without the jar-lid moving at all. I tried pressing the power button to see if that will get it to stop or to reverse & open the clamps to release the jar, but nothing happened. So, after about 5 minutes I opened the battery compartment cover just to get it to stop making that awful loud noise ; I was afraid it will burn itself out the way it sounds!I decided to give it another try and to let it stay on 'trying' to open the jar for a long time, even though it is making that horrible noise, even if that burns out the motor. After about 10 minutes more working, I heard a popping sound & then the clamps started to open so I thought the jar lid's seal was being 'popped' open. But no such luck!The jar is still not open, and the jar lid has not budged at all!I removed the batteries from the Instacan getting ready to return it. As I was looking at it I noticed that the clamp arms don't look exactly parallel, so I looked at them closer. There was a narrow crack on the underside/inside of one of the clamp arms, right at the inner edge of where it slides in & is almost not visible. So the popping sound I heard must have been the Instacan's clamp arm cracking.This product supposedly has a "lifetime warranty"; they provide a phone number for you to call. But there are no people to actually answer that phone! Every time I call, I get a recording telling me to hold for a rep and saying "if you would like to leave a voicemail, you can dial 1 at any time". After holding for a couple minutes while muzac is playing, it then tells you "no support reps are available" & tells you to leave a voicemail with your phone number & email address.It doesn't actually give you the option to hold to talk to a rep over the phone.

Itรขโฌโขs easy to use. You have to get it centred over the lid or it topples off as it twists to open it. So much better than running hot water over the Lid using hand held grippers etc.

Not a gimmicky toy to buy, but a genuine aide to have if you need it. It is slow and noisy but does the job well with no effort required. So if your hands and wrists are in very bad condition this will give you more independence. But if they are not so bad you may be better with the manual aides that require some effort.
