I use this with my still for making hand sanitizer. Using this for the first time, I wasn't sure why the alcohol content was coming out so low. After testing, I found that there was a large amount of water in the distillation. Then I tested this thermometer along side a digital and found that the temperature reading for this one is about 27 degrees off. Since alcohol boils at a lower temperature than water, this caused my reading to be off and I was boiling water as well as alcohol and distilling about a 40/60 mixture which exponentially decreased the quality of the output.Now that I have figured this out, I an use the thermometer but I had to manually mark the thermometer to the corrected reading for future use.

The o-rings supplied are worthless. As soon as you tighten them they squish out from under the nut and washer. had to use some smaller thinner ones to get a good seal. Do not know how you could use this with the supplied o-rings?

Don’t spend more money on name brand thermometers. These work just as good.
