Arrived quickly and in perfect working order.I won't deduct stars for this as I was able to get the app to work. The directions say you need to sign into Inkbird.com or create an account. I went to their website and tried to create a new account as a new customer. There is a process you get a security code and you create a password. It would not accept the code and eventually have me a message: Sign in error with no code.I tried on Firefox, Opera, and Chrome all giving the same result. I mention this so Inkbird can fix this. The packaging is very nicely done. The device is very handsome looking. The sensor is permanently connected and the cabel feels very sturdy. The tip is stainless steel of good sturdy quality. The plug is 3 prong and also sturdy. The plugs have a small etched symbol for heat and cooling. These can be hard to see and tell what they are.Overall build quality is 5 stars. The directions that come with this do explain the button dial on the side a little. If you look under more product information you will find 2 PDF files one a manual and one for a more or less quick set up.The connection is easy overall. If you also can't make a Inkbird.com account on site.Download the Inkbird app. Create the account. It might tell you it has been made and when you try to sign in it says email or password are incorrect. Just hit forgot password and reenter your password, you get a pass code for security and enter it last then hit enter. It should say you're good. Now go back and enter the app. For some reasons this doesn't as farcas I know transfer to the site. One in the app it has to take several minutes or so to load and find your device. THIS CONNECTS USING THE APP not your Bluetooth list on your phone.Once the app loads images of all sorts of devices as long as yours is plugged in it wil show up automatically or at least mine did in a field above the other products.Just follow the onscreen directions. You should be connecting very soon after. The code the device starts with only goes away after you set things up.At the last step it shows it connecting and presto you're connected and the temperature 🌡 appears. The app is straightforward and does what you would expect. It's a thermostat and settings app. Not a AAA game here.Personally I give the app 5 stars also. The temperature seems very accurate and should perform well for my needs.I will be plugging a battery warmer into the heat plug and laying over my large Bluetooth speaker to keep warm in my un-heated garage.I am not deducting stars for the app connecting to the device. Because once I realized that the connection was straightforward.

This new temperature controller is so sleek! I love the new modern design a lot! It would definitely look nicer next to the high-end aquarium setups. The symbols next to the heating and cooling plugs are a bit hard to see in the dark, but I still prefer them this way since I only use those symbols once in a whileThe temperature sensor has been accurate within 0.1F of my other 2 sensors, which is what I've come to expect of Inkbird anyways after using many of their temperature controllers. I really like that this model also does alerts for both too hot or too cold since some of the other models only did one or the otherThis does come with a knob on it that people can use to change the settings. It's a bit complicated, but seems doable with the instructions. However, I decided to just use the app to set it up, and it was super easy! I was a bit apprehensive when I looked at the instruction booklet, but the app walked me through the whole setup process really easily. I also really like the new dark mode since I'm a fan of that on all my apps/websitesOverall, I'm very happy with the new look, the continued performance/accuracy, and the easier setup using the app!

So as the title says, this product is just what I need for precise temperature control in my fermentation fridge. It may or may not be just what you need for your particular application, so I would encourage everyone to read the specs carefully and make sure they're getting what they think they are before buying.Having said that, this controller works great for me. There are two modes for controlling temperature and I still haven't decided which one I like better. One mode works just like the older ITC-308 series where you set a target temperature and differentials for heating and cooling. In the other mode, you set start and stop temperatures for heating and cooling separately. There are also day/night and timed modes which I imagine might be very appealing to some users, but I haven't tried those because I don't think I'll ever need them.In any case, both temperature control modes can maintain my fermentation chamber within a very narrow range. At first I was rather conservative with it and set the heating and cooling three degrees fahrenheit apart, but eventually found that I can set them just one degree apart and it will maintain the temperature within a tenth of a degree above or below that range. Of course, I imagine that the specific heating and cooling units that you're using, as well as probe placement, might have an impact on this as well. The app was easy to download and install, and worked well for me once I played around with it a little to get a feel for it. The bluetooth range is pretty good in my house, but again this is probably something that will vary for different users. To me, it hasn't really mattered much because the controller keeps working even if it disconnects and stores temperature data that you can recover when you reconnect. Since I use my phone to run the app, it's always going to disconnect when I leave home, but it always reconnects when I return. The only negative for me is that I do wish that the temperature probe wasn't hard wired to the unit. Since I attach the probe to my fermenter inside the fridge, it would be nice to be able to disconnect the probe from the controller when I want to move things around instead of having to take it off the fermenter. But that's a pretty minor complaint so I'm still giving it five stars.I may come back and post an update after I use it some more.
