I wanted this yarn winder for when I had yarn remnants after I finished crochet projects. The setup is quick and easy and it's easy to use. I have found that the inside comes out of the middle when I take the yarn ball off the winder. This might be user error but I have tried adjusting tension and other techniques to fix this and it still happens. Overall though, I am pleased with this item and it will help clean up my yarn mess.

Depending on your thickness of yarn, you can maybe get a full skein wound up.. if you're some sort of pro and have thin yarn. But most likely for typical yarn and this hand winder by Inmaker, you'll do well with a half skein at a time. The yarn winder is nice to use to ensure yarns aren't a tangled mess. I'm finally a bjt mire organized, and I'm not cutting the circulation off on my fingers or hand any more by winding yarn by hand. I can easily tell how much I have to work with now for various projects since my yarn is now wound up uniformly. This helps me get through projects more quickly so is productive. I can also visually gauge what I have length wise for materials much more easily now.The yarn ball winder doesn't take up much space of it's own, and is easy and straightforward to use. For best use, you need to tighten it down to a flat surface with the vice at the bottom of the winder, held tight by a wing nut, and the little cushion pads on the base of the winder, and the winder's foot. The thickness of your table or item that this gets clamped to, though, is limited due to the large thickness of the bottom clamp/foot. The maximum width of your table or item that you can secure this yarn winder to, is about 2 and a half inches, and minimum width can be less than a quarter inch thick flat surface- as long as it's stable and durable. This is not a deal breaker for me at all, I just noticed that the dimensions weren't noted anywhere else so thought that this could be helpful. As far as the functionality, aside from it holding the half skein, the gears are a tad bit noisy and rough. The gears don't misalign, but there's a roughness to the noise that I'm not able to explain well- like as if the gears inside need to be oiled. I can't, however, see the internal mechanisms. This doesn't deter me from using the winder, but I do have to turn up my audio or speak louder when I'm cranking the handle on this winder. The only other thing to note is that because the base plate isn't very large, one slight move can cause the yarn to start winding under the plate instead of around the cone, which creates issues if you don't catch it right away and pull the yarn backwards. If you yank on the winder and it's not tightly secured to your surface, you can pull the whole thing down, too. Depending on how portable you want it to be, you could put double sided the or something by the feet so that it doesn't budge easily. That more so comes down to the surface that you clamp it down to, though, rather than issues with the winder or its build.Overall, it's not a top of the line winder, but it does work as intended as a manual winder with sturdy, non flimsy plastic parts, and good instruction booklet.I rated it 4 stars, because I feel it is a bit overpriced for what it is, and what was (or wasn't) included, but I am overall a very frugal person. The winder by Inmaker delivered on what it was expected to do.

I recently added the INMAKER Yarn Winder to my crafting tools, and it has quickly become a must-have! As a crocheting enthusiast, this purple yarn ball winder has made my life so much easier. It’s hand-operated, which gives me great control over winding my yarn, and the process is smooth and effortless. The construction is sturdy, and it holds the yarn securely without slipping. I can now create neat, even yarn balls in no time, making my projects look more organized and manageable. It's perfect for anyone who loves knitting or crocheting, and it helps keep everything tidy. Overall, this is a fantastic tool for any crafter looking to streamline their yarn prep process!

I actually bought this for a friend but it turned out she already had one. I am a knitter so I decided to keep it, and man does it ever work. I've had disorganized wool for years now and now it's all neat and usable! For the price it definitely is a must have for any knitter or crocheter!

I have no idea why I didn’t have one of these sooner! It’s brilliant, 20 minutes to transform 4 neglected skeins of wool and 1 misshapen ball into 5 usable yarn cakes. There is a slight tendency for them to want to unwind from the bottom, but this is easily fixed by winding the last revolution or two around horizontally and looping it under itself. I love this thing.
