I bought this ax for my grandsons birthday. He took a liking to chopping wood while camping this summer. He asked if I would get him an ax for his birthday. He just turned 11. This is a nice ax. Very light weight. Easy to grip handle. Very sharp, so lots of teaching being done on safety. But he used it and can split logs nicely. Over all, very satisfied. He has missed a few times and hit the handle with no damage to the ax. That is why I went with this handle over wood.

The price was good, the handle is comfortable, and the weight is great. It needed to be sharpened before its first use. It had an edge, but wasn’t sharp at all. Also I don’t have a lot of confidence the blade guard is going to last it’s just cheap plastic.

This axe is so good, it's a delight to use. It's very sharp and well balanced. When I first used it I was pleasantly surprised at how well it chops. As my sons began using it they commented on what a good axe it is as well. I do not regret this purchase at all.

The hatchet seems to be built nice but it is so dull. I think they forgot to put a final edge on it. It is so dull that it will probably take an hour to redo the edge. I also purchased a large splitter and a hatchet sized splitter and they are very sharp. I don’t like buying something that is not right!Update company contacted me and offered solutions to the purchase. I had already sharped the tool so no action required. All good!

I was uncertain about this item at first. Online specs vs how it feels in the hand, and all that. This does feel right-sized for a hatchet, and is reasonably well balanced. I have confidence this will last me for many years.I've chopped wood for a lifetime already, so I know what I want. This hatchet will do the job, if you don't mind sharpening it yourself. Out of the box it is somewhat sharp and would work okay but with a bench grinder or even a file you could easily improve its cutting ability. For the price point this is fine for me. I use it to make kindling from larger split wood, or to trim branches from trees I've taken down.It is balanced and comfortable to hold, not too heavy.

It's pretty. I got it for the fiberglass handle and it seems to be okay. It looks like the head shouldn't loosen because it uses a liquid poured in vs wood wedges used with a wood handle. Its clear that the actual steel is cheap and unfinished. You can see it in the pic, but I expect it will chop kindling or whack zombies just fine. I'd buy it again. It's a cheap hatchet with a good handle for $20. Kinda hard to go wrong.
