I got the JJC USB Lens Warmer after shooting some photos on Mt. Washington in New Hampshire and having a hard time because of condensation. I admit I did not look closely at the product page before I ordered, so I was surprised when I tried the product and realized it has to have an external power source. I just assumed it had its own battery that had to be charged or that it worked off the camera power. The dew strip does as is intended; it gets hot enough to keep the lens temperature stable, and it is simple to operate. However, I find it awkward to use with an external power source. The best option I can find is an external power bank, but finding a way to carry it is a challenge. I settled on putting it in my pocket, which is easy to do since the dew strip comes with a very long cord, but the cord hanging down is in the way and can easily get snagged. It would probably be easier to use the dew heater with the camera on a tripod, since the power bank could then be placed on the tripod. The JJC USB Lens Warmer does exactly what is intended, and I suppose it is my fault that I didn't find out how it worked before I ordered it. However, I am giving it four stars because I feel it would be very easy to design the device with a built in battery attached to the strip.

I’ve used this and it works good for what it’s used for. Easy to use and fits on the lens. The he build quality is fine.

It’s fall in NY. The weather is lovely, right now but not for long as Winter is Coming. And with winter also comes the Orionids, and I want to be able to take some photos of that sky. Which means I have to prepare for the winter. I was on the lookout for one of these, I doubt anything will fog/dew up in NY but I am not taking that chance.Sadly, it’s still too warm to test it on the actual camera, but I plugged it up and turned on all the settings on my arm. Went through them one by one and I can say that 1. it works, 2. It changes temp according to the settings. 3, it was proper warm. With the amount of heat I felt in the highest setting I feel confident that nothing will fog up and I won’t have a dew issue.Though I say it gets very hot, it doesn't get so hot that it will overheat the camera, at least not in the dead of winter.

Last year I spent an inordinate amount of time out in the cold doing long exposures of the stars, and quite nearly froze my fingertips off, but also, my lens always fogged up and constantly required wiping, and it was all rather frustrating when you want to just focus on getting that perfect astro shot. This is where this USB lens warmer wrap from brand JJC comes in tremendously handy, not for your actual digits of course, but most-definitely for your camera lens. There is even a temp regulator built-in, and coverage can handle a variety of lenses, the description really limits the options you think you can use this on, so don't be afraid to get it for lenses perhaps smaller than a 80-110mm, as this warmer should still. be able to fit around the diameter of a lot of smaller focus turns.Overall this keeps your lens just toasty enough to prevent fogging, and while you will definitely still need a good pair of mitten (I always recommend heated gloves when out in the frozen wastelands as well), this will at least solve a much-maligned issue for astro and time lapse photographers when out doing their thing in the winter months.P.s. Remember, this is not just for the winter — it works great to avoid dew condensation on your lens in the wee early hours of the morning as well if you are up all night in spring. 5 stars.

I always have problems with lenses fogging up by going from an air-conditioned room to the warm, humid exterior in the summer, or taking pictures of the stars in the winter. These heaters are very handy, they can be powered by any USB charger or phone battery pack. They're basically a neoprene strap with a resistance inside, and some velcro outside to keep them in place. They come with 3 temperature settings; at the highest setting it reaches 32-33C, so it's warm but it's not burning; probably warm enough to do the job. I'll have to wait until it gets cold enough to give it a proper test. So far, very good and convenient.

Testing the temperature on this lens warmer I don't think I'd use more than the low setting and I live in a very damp area in Canada that has a cold Winter. I think the highest setting is too hot for the electronics in the lens especially when wrapped directly against it. This is a good addition to a camera bag.
