I am really torn on a rating for this mat. It's great except for 2 flaws, and those flaws make it super inconvenient for my Husband and I.I really like that this anti static mat is not only thick enough to do the job of heat protection and insulation, but also flat/thin enough to roll up and store easily. It's also got some nice compartmentalized segments to help keep things organized, and to stop them from just rolling around free on the mat.However there is a huge design flaw with the cords and the wrist strap. The cords are very short. If your work station doesn't have an outlet right there at work station height, then this won't reach much. It says to see picure 4 for "earthing with the help of a wired socket", but I have no idea what I am looking at in that image. Is that an outlet extender they are using? With other mats and grounding cords, extensions are not encouraged as it messes with the resistance of the cords, I am not sure if this is the same for this mat. So for now, until I know for sure, I have been using this on a stool because the cords don't reach the table.The wrist strap is also very small, while it fits me, my husband can't use it at all. The hook and loop closure doesn't reach around his wrist.If a plug extender is ok to use, then this would be great for me. Though I would still have to get a hook and loop extender to make this work for my Husband. However, until I double check that it's not really as picky as some of my other mats, I don't want to risk it.

This is a thick silicone mat. It has many divided sections to keep screws and other small parts separated and in one place. I would like if it were a little larger but it works and that's the biggest thing. No bubbling or draw when heated.

so, I got this product for free. and it does what I need it to do. My next project is to Fix my Vehicles 6 disk cd changer. the mat has little indentations to keep screws from rolling freely. i not only needed a anti static mat i needed a mat to protect my desk from any drips of molten solder. as I will be needing to de solder and re solders the grounding points in order to completely remove a circuit board in order to be able to access the broken Gear/mechanism... this mat will do the trick! and it's free, like a gift from Santa. thanks amazon. also, i gave it 3 stars because this is a generic product. I'm sure there are much higher quality products out there. (and very expensive too)

This isn't my first mat, it's a pretty common design. Typical size mat that you're probably used to working with. The wrist strap / ESD protection is a nice value add, I've definitely killed my fair share of sensitive components (including an alarm clock). You never know when ESD is going to mess something up, it's just good practice for expensive or delicate stuff.

This is a pretty nice ESD mat for working with electronics, it has a nice grippy feel without attracting too much dust or dirt to make cleaning annoying. It has plenty of little spots for you to organize things like screws which make the workflow much easier. Comes with a grounding plug and a couple straps so you can keep your sensitive electronics safe.

This antistatic mat is really cool having separate areas on it where you can store varieties of nuts bolts for small electronics while you're working on them. I actually had static discharge do damage to a phone that I was working on and that one incident made me decide to pick up one of these. Static discharge for small electronics can be very dangerous or whatever you're working on or computer boards because you can build up enough static electricity to discharge it into a memory chip and wipe the data or worse. Laying out this mat also allows me to keep everything organized while I'm working and the rubber that it's made of his comfortable to rest your wrists on. It also has a ruler on it which is a really nice little bonus. Super happy with it overall and highly recommend it to anyone working on cell phones or small electronics for programming Arduino's or raspberry pies!

ESD protection is important when working on electronics, especially in the winter time when the dry air causes static to build up much more quickly. This covers the basics, with a wrist strap and a clip to ground the work mat.It's not perfect - the cord for the wrist strap is pretty short, and the strap itself is small. I have outlets on my workbench and the cord still felt a bit constrained. The strap fit my wrist, but I had to undo it completely and then wrap it around my wrist instead of partially opening it and sliding it over my hand like a larger strap would allow.The work mat is nice, with plenty of little compartments for organizing pieces.
