I have not been able to take my Epic V5 root out without help because there is no deck space for wheel storage. No other reviewer mentioned using this for a surfski, but after months of sparse use, I decided to gamble on these wheels. And they fit in the tiny hatch, with the wheels off. It is very easy to take the wheels on and off, and they even include extra spacers and pins in case of loss! To test function, I just hooked the blue strap to handles I installed to make self-rescue easier. Worked reasonably well over 2-4" bumps and gravel. Turns are awkward because the wheels are near the very tip of the stern (under rudder port), and backing up not an option. Good enough results for me to install a pad eye for the cart hook. Hoping a proper mount improves maneuverability.UPDATE: Found way to secure blue strap without the hook. It now goes backwards and forwards, up and down bumps, all without boat shifting on the cart!

I was looking for a new cart that was actually small enough to fit into the hatch of my small sea kayak. I have another that was supposed to fit, but it was actually about an inch too long. This is small and very easy to store, and because of the cockpit hook I haven't had it come off while using it. The wheels are small and relatively hard, so if you have to deal with a steep hill or deep sand it might not work as well.

I bought this back in April of this year for my narrow, light-weight, hard-chined, Pygmy kayak. It worked like a charm, and even fit in the back hatch. That alone would warm it five stars.But… in July I went on a five day camping and kayak trip. And once home, I realized one of the wheels had not made it home with me.I wrote to the company, asking if there’s any chance I could just buy another wheel, vs buying a whole new cart. Imagine my surprise today, when a brand new wheel - with extra little parts - arrived on my doorstep!They are just the best folks!! Thank you again!!!

This is the perfect set of wheels for my 14.5 Hurricane Kayak. Hauls great over any surface and is simple and easy to attach. I most love that it fits in my back hatch inn case I don't want to leave it at the launch site

This cart has a limited use, and it is perfect for it:To move my heavy 50 pound kayak from the car to the water, and from my garage to the car.This cart is not useful for portaging any of my 3 boats across distances between ponds and such in the Adirondack Mountains on rolling, rooty, rocky terrain. It tips over too easily. I use C-Tugs for this, or hand carry my boatI highly recommend it for the limited purposes

This seems to be an improvement over an eralier design. It is easier to use and works well. The straps keep it inplace so you don't need any additional ropes to keep it in place.

I love these yak wheels! Set up was uncomplicated and I even found a video online. Seems like a study build and was plenty stable for the terrane I was on (parking lot, lumpy grass, sand and a few transitions). Made it a breeze to get down to the water and turned a few heads on the way! And later watching others lug or drag their yaks to the water, made me so glad I made this purchase! Seemed less expensive than others I saw online and was perfectly compact to fit in my Old Town Dirigo dry well.
