I use this to logon my Windows computer. Works great and recognizes my fingerprint every time. Easy to use when accessing websites with a password manager. Small so fits easily next to keyboard. Cord is plenty long to reach from back of computer to keyboard drawer. Good value for the money.

Works exactly like it should and makes like soooo much easier!If you find that it won't work when your PC is asleep, or it's been sitting idle for a while, then you need to change the driver settings. See picsOpen "Device Manager" (Google it if you don't know how to)- Click on "Biometric devices"- RIGHT-CLICK on "VeriMark DT Fingerprint Key"- Select the "Power Management" tab- UNCHECK the box that says, "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".- Click "OK" and close out Device ManagerIf you continue to have the same issues, you may have to do the same thing for the USB that it's plugged in to. See third pic

Purchased this for my main computer, which is a desktop. It is small and unobtrusive, but lights up when the machine starts, reads my finger first time every time, and just works. Ordering a second one for my laptop.

It works fine but the install was not smooth. At first it seemed to automatically install and it was listed under device drivers but when I went to use it it would start the registration and then stop and get errors and windows would say it's unrecognized. So, I manually downloaded the drivers from kensington and uncompressed and installed them and then it said I was missing some required windows files which it downloaded and installed and then the program worked as it should and the device was properly configured. I have a 3 year old computer with windows 11 pro so.....Not so straight forward an install.

UPDATE:I've had it about a month and a half. Or about 2 weeks past the return window. It got more and more fussy about reading our fingerprints. I thought it was just me because of dirt and oil and whatever on my hands from working in the garage. But my wife had the same issues.Now it's just a useless piece of junk.I switched over to Digital Persona 4500 fingerprint reader. I haven't had any issues since. You can find them on Amazon - but buying a used one on eBay from a reputable seller is the better bet. It also costs a lot less. They don't come with drivers. However all you need to do is google Digital Persona 4500 driver and look for the HID Global website to find them. It's no more complicated than downloading any other driver and installing it.Original:I've had it about a week and so far so good. I started looking at these when one of our kiddos somehow obtained our Windows pin #, then used that to obtain some other sensitive information from our desktop computer and got himself in a boatload of trouble....I'm using Win 10 and it was very easy to get it set up with Windows Hello. Now instead of entering a PIN or password we just touch our finger.I couldn't get this to work with Dashlane. So we switched to NordPass and now instead of entering the master password to unlock it we just touch our finger.I initially encountered some issues with it going to sleep and not waking up as others have mentioned. After doing some research I double checked the BIOS settings to make sure the USB ports were powered even if the machine was off. That was how BIOS was set - so that wasn't the issue.I then checked in device manager and under Power Management I had to uncheck a box that allowed the computer to turn it off to save power. Once I did that I haven't had any issues with it not working.I love the small size of it. I'm not entirely sure the kiddos even know what it is.The adhesive on it was worthless. Even after cleaning the desk with an alcohol wipe and letting it dry the adhesive on it didn't last a day. I replaced it with a good quality double sided tape and haven't had any issues. There isn't much weight to it - so you really do need to secure it to the desk for it to be usable.It's much easier and faster to touch a finger and log into windows, and log into the password manager. And it keeps any kiddos from looking over our shoulders. It's a win win situation. Couldn't be happier so far. Will update if it doesn't last or other issues crop up.

Connected it to my Windows 11 desktop PC. When it works, it works fine. However, there are a lot of times when it just refuses to work at all. My system is sitting at a login screen, I put my finger on the scanner, nothing. Windows doesn't recognize the fingerprint. Not even a message that Windows doesn't recognize my finger, use a different one. The fingerprint scanner doesn't light up. Only choice is to click Options and use my passcode. Rebooting does not fix it. It just works when it wants to. Perhaps later once I am logged it, it might work for unlocking 1Password or some other app, but I find myself using my passcode more often than I should need to. I've tried different USB ports, no help. Why did I buy this?

This is a reliable and small fingerprint reader that is reliable and fast.A previous fingerprint reader would misread and require repeat scanning. Also, the older one was a swipe whereas this one is simply a light touch.I give it five stars for being plug and play. I did not have to download any drivers on my up to date Windows 11 desktop. It installed and interfaced with Windows Hello without issues.Quick scanning, easy install and reliable.

Solid construction. Easy easy set up. Works well with Windows, 10 and one password. I change the UAC For windows to prompt for password anytime system changes are needed. And the fingerprint reader works for this as well.

Klein, robust und funktioniert wie beschrieben. Ich benutze es bereits seit mehr als ein paar Monaten und bin zufrieden. Mit Windows 11 ist keine Installation erforderlich.Einige Male wurde es nach dem Herunterfahren des Computers nicht erkannt, aber das Trennen und erneute Anschließen des USB Kabels behebt das Problem. Höchstwahrscheinlich mein Computerproblem.
