About this item

  • Estimated rate of flow up to 1.5 gpm at 60 psi
  • PVC for corrosion resistance
  • Tank mount with extended threads on inlet side of valve for mounting through tank wall
  • Includes 1.5x4" float ball attached to fixed valve shutoff arm
  • 1/4" tube fitting inlet and free-flow outlet

This Kerick M252 float valve is a tank-mount style and is made of PVC with 18-8 stainless steel hardware. The valve has a 0.093" orifice and its estimated rate of flow is 1.3 gallons per minute (gpm) at 40 pounds per square inch (psi) and 1.5 gpm at 60 psi. The valve inlet has 1/4" NPT male extended threads with a sealing washer and jam nut for mounting through a tank wall, and the valve outlet is free flowing. The valve inlet includes a compression fitting for use with 1/4" tubing. The valve is made of National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) approved PVC (polyvinyl chloride), its replaceable seals are made of TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) for durability and chemical resistance, and its hardware is made of 18-8 stainless steel for corrosion resistance. The valve has a 1.5" in diameter and 4" long polyethylene float attached to the shutoff lever arm. This float valve is suitable for use in a variety of applications, such as fountains and livestock water tanks.

Float valves use a rod and float ball attached to a valve shutoff lever to control flow in or out of a tank. The float ball rises or falls with the level of liquid in the tank, changing the angle of the valve shutoff lever. When the angle of the valve lever changes sufficiently, the valve opens or closes. Float valves are rated according to the volume of liquid that can flow through them at a particular pressure to ensure the tank can be refilled as quickly as it is emptied. The material that a float valve is constructed from must be suitable for the liquid in which it operates, which may be corrosive or at an extreme temperature. Float valves are used to automatically regulate the level of liquid within tanks in a variety of applications, such as fountains, livestock water tanks, cooling towers, and chemical manufacturing plants.

Kerick Valve manufactures fluid level control valves for industrial applications. The company, founded in 1994, is headquartered in Jacksonville, FL.

Used to fill a barrel for my rodi system. Was worried it wouldn't work with higher pressure but it's been great. No leaks, shuts off the system when full. Can't ask for more than that.

I installed this unit in my Mr. coffee k-cup machine and it works awesome - seals without issue even after considerable modification.I ran a line from my RO system to this valve at the top of the coffee machine water reservoir. I was initially concerned with the lack of float adjustment but that can be quickly fixed. The threaded portion of the valve assembly contains very coarse threads that are more for grabbing the float plastic than threading or screwing into the float. In seeing this I simply drilled another hole in the float 90-degrees to the existing float attachment point so that the new hole actually crossed directly through the factory attachment hole. With that i can now attach the float to the valve 90-degrees to the original attachment orientation allowing for the valve to be installed vertically but still function as intended. Once I got everything installed and lined up as needed I drilled a very small (~1/32-inch) hole through the float and valve attachment points to accommodate a cotter pin to lock everything in place. Works great.Regardless of my tinkering, this is a good product. The 1/4" hose connection is leak free and the plastic is durable. I've only had it installed for a couple of days but, again, so far so good. Really good project find.

Dimensions advertised were accurate. The white compression fitting at the inlet sealed over 1/16 wall (lowes) plastic tubing, but not over 1/32 wall (harbor freight) tubing. The rubber washer sealed against the inside of a 1/32" thin-walled plastic reservoir, but I had to use marine sealant on the outside, because the compression fitting did not tighten well against the this thin-walled reservoir. I've had it working outdoors for about three months now with no troubles. The float is fully sealed and removable from the float arm. Nice, inexpensive float valve!

Unfortunately I did not read the description well enough. I bought the adjustable version a year ago and it has been fantastic - water changes and sump top off are way easier. I will be putting this one on my freshwater tank - I was planning to drill a hole in the plastic top, but because it is not adjustable, I'll need to mount it in a different way. If you need an adjustable one, it's about the same price, same company - Kerick Valve MA252 PVC Mini Float Valve, Tank Mount, Adjustable Arm, 1.5 gpm at 60 psi, 1/4" Tube - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0077RAX4W/

At less than half the price of the hydrologic valves(20 bucks for a cheap plastic float valve, wtf?) I was skeptical of these but they work just as well. However; there are 2 major differences:1. The float height is not adjustable, so it can't me mounted vertically and be careful to mount it low enough that it won't hit the lid of your tank when its floating up/closed.2. It has a compression fitting and not a quick push in fitting. You can't simply loosen it, push the tube in and tighten it. You need to take the compression nut off of the valve, careful not to lose the little white plastic ring inside(compression ring, also called a ferrule). slide the compression nut onto your line and the slide the ferrule on behind that with slanted side facing towards the float valve and then push the end of the tube in to the float valve receiving fitting and tighten the compression nut. Might sound complicated but isn't and only takes about a minute and in my opinion is more secure/permanent/leak resistant than the quick fittings.Hope this helps

This was a simple installation and replacement for a humidifier float valve supple shut off. Size was appropriate but first valve received would not shut off and caused overflow. Amazon promptly replaced the valve but second one received had exactly same problem in spite of multiple adjustments of the length of arm!! Both valves had recent production dates and something must be terribly wrong with the lot. Ordered Amazon PVC mini float valve by CzGarden which worked perfectly on first try.
