This is been pretty great--I held off reviewing it until it had gone through most of a winter, and it's held up fine. I have it in a galvanized bucket (about ten gallons) on the back deck for animals and I appreciate that the cord has wire reinforcing because the darned raccoons LOVE to pull it out of the bucket. (Maybe because it is bright red instead of white or black?) So far it's kept the water ice-free, the cord reaches the outdoor outlet with no problem, and I haven't noticed a surge in electrical use in my bills. So far it's played nice with the gfic outlet, which can be a problem with some heaters because of the wattage it draws in very cold weather. I'd recommend this one, especially at the price, and maybe pick up a second backup one if you live somewhere that has subzero temps because that cold does wear out all the models I have tried.

This is a lifesaver in the winter. My donkeys have a kiddie pool as their drinking water. This keeps it mostly thawed so I don't have to worry. I love it. I have one I've used for at least 5 winters. Still working.

Purchased these smaller stock tank heaters to save some money on our electric bill. They work fantastic. Keeps the tanks ice free even in the lowest of temperatures. Size is great, doesn’t take up too much room in the tank. The housing is plastic so I’m not sure long term if they would last if you have livestock that like to play with them. I’ve found them to be very durable though as I have larger heaters of the same brand in a 110 gal. tank.

Update... I bought 2 of these in November and they no longer work - complete waste of money. It's 20 degrees here and my bushel water tubs are completely frozen. 🤬🤬🤬 Apparently they don't do refunds according to other reviews, but too late to return it anyway. Animals outside deserve better than this 🤬🤬🤬Disappointed that the seller is pushing they're American but selling cheap products made in China and using their sales location to bait customers. SUPER disappointed. For starters, the packaging was infuriating. Box was glued shut and I had to get a blade to get into it. No cut cardboard tabs to close it which I thought would have been cheaper to make and more ecologically responsible rather than spend all that money coating it in glue that's impossible to rip open without cutting it. The cord is too short. Company is from USA but product made in China. So far it works but super disappointed in packaging and outsourcing from an American company to China.

Had it for a couple weeks now. Use it in the horses water trough and it works great. It sank to the bottom. I place the cord through PVC pipe to protect it, water never has frozen since and nights have gotten down in the teens..

Bought two of these two winters ago and just purchased a third. Installed in 5 gallon plastic buckets, they kept water from freezing for over a week in well below freezing weather. First two have been through at least 350 hours below freezing and still running well. Two reasons I gave it four stars are the design. They don't like to sit flat in the bottom and try to stand on end given the chance. I weighted them to stop this. Also, the protective housing is larger than it needs to be. While it protects well from melting plastic buckets, it also reduces the capacity as they need to always be submerged. In a five gallon bucket, you only get about 3.5-4 gallons before the water is below the heater thus destroying it. In fairness, I am not sure how much smaller they could make the housing before it risks melting plastic.

I am using this product for the first time and I have it plugged into a 25ft Hyper Tough brand extension cord, plugged into a power strip that will trip if anything shorts (so far so good), and hooked onto a medium sized kiddie pool for my ducks and they have had lukewarm water through Below freezing weather and Snow for the past 3 days. So far this product is working AMAZINGLY! I love it!! Will review later if something goes wrong but for now its awesome!! Easy to set up as well!

This one is the best out of all the other four manufactures and I tried this one last. Why it's the best outcome all of them. It sinks into your trough dosnt foat at the top. It dosnt burn and melt your plastic trough. It dost only best some of the ice. It downtnheat up your trogh to the point of killing your fish in it. It comes with a clip because the cows love to chew on everything. This is by far the best one. The rest are just junk.

Works pretty good in cold weather in 15 gallon trough. -33C keeps water open around heater. Put it on a timer because if it’s warmer than -15c it steams a lot seems like it’s over working but it’s great for cold weather. 4 stars because takes a little work to get it just right but overall keeps water from turning to ice in freezing northern Manitoba winters, good for the price.
