Came with everything I needed. Bolts, washers, lock washers etc. Installation was a breeze. Mount seems to be good quality.

Anyone complaining about it not lining up with the holes for a TJ is inaccurate. It's built with leeway and can be slightly adjusted. In fact it allows you up to 17" tires and the 3rd brake light is mounted higher so it clears larger tires.

1/4 would be complete overkill - even the military uses 1/8 and civilian manufactures use even thinner.I measured the thickness of this part to 3/16 which is closer to what I wanted anyway.

It's a shame that such a heavy duty, nicely engineered piece of hardware is made with such shoddy quality control. The first one I bought was tapped so bad that the 1/2-20 bolts would not thread into the holes. I returned it. The 2nd one a little better but one hole stripped before it would engage the lock washer. One of the three, 1/2-20 bolts also had bad threads. They were flat on the end and I had to chase them with a die to get them to accept a lug nut. I also had to run a tap in all the holes to clean the threads out first. It appears they tapped the holes prior to etching the surface for powder coat so the threads were severely distorted. I will add pics that better explain this. It sucks because this is a heavy duty tire carrier but it's not worth the hassle. If you have a Jeep TJ, do yourself a favor. Spend the extra $25 and get the Rugged Ridge 11585.01. It's the exact carrier but with Quality Control. I have it on my 06 Rubicon and it is much nicer.

This bracket was very easy to install. Hardest part was removing the old one. This bolts had not been removed since 2005. But I had no issues installing the new bracket. It’s better than original. I have oversized tires and my brake light actually is visible now to cars behind me. Definitely recommend for the 2005 jeep wrangler.

Not a bad tire carrier for the money. Holes to mount to tailgate do not line up exactly but with a little know how you can get it mounted no problem.
