Since I received this tool I have not stopped using it. At first I did not trust the measurements I obtained and I constantly measured with the laser and with the usual measuring tape to check that the measurement was correct. But as time went by and I saw that one measurement after another always coincided with the traditional tape, I began to use only this laser instrument.I really like the size, when I ordered it I thought it was much bigger, but to my surprise it is small and easy to transport. It feels solid, made of good materials, and for the price (17 at the time of this review), this tool is a must have.

I am a little confused on this device. I know it's no fault of the manufacturer, but I got lost in the instructions on all the different modes/types of measurements this does. I can say the laser is accurate at the distance measurement as I measured alongside a tape measure. For figuring out the Area I cannot figure that out just yet.I am sure for those that are NOT a beginner, like me, can see great benefit of this tool. I picked this up as a DIY purposes.

Do not get the 50M version (model SN-R50) unless you want your distances in meters. The description and pictures in the reviews are for the more costly version that measures in feet and meters

Sold in the US with no mention that it is METRIC ONLY. Our standard is in inches, not meters.

I absolutely love this thing as a perfectionist. And I don't just the "measure twice cut once" type of perfectionist either - more like "measure 5 or 6 times until I have reached OCD precision" type of perfectionism. I don't know what it is but I just derive tremendous satisfaction from fashioning a precise fit. Whether I'm building furniture or 3D printing tiny parts, I just love achieving a seamless mating between parts.And frankly, I never even knew I needed one of these. Not that I doubted that a laser was just as accurate as a ruler, a string, or a tape measure and pencil, I just always figured a physical index is every bit as capable (which I still believe to be true!).However, this thing makes getting a precise measurement SO insanely easy and fast that I now would never want to go back to the more manual method. No more pulling the tape measure extra taught, checking alignment down an 8ft stretch of board or whatever - just point at shoot. And when you can fire the laser 5 times back to back and get the same exact readout over and over again down to thousands of a foot across a 30 foot room? That is just the pinnacle of what a hobbyist can hope for in terms of measuring.The one vaguely "negative" comment I might share is that straight out of the box the screen had some scratches on it (oh and the box arrived a bit beat up, but thats likely attributable to shipping rather than seller). The scratches are literally not even noticeable for any practical purpose and I only noticed them while attempting to get some high quality pictures of the device. You will see in my 6th picture the device tilted at such an angle as to catch the light and reveal the scratches im talking about.But that's honestly trivial and youll also notice you really don't see any screen imperfections in the other photos. Its a tool anyways so its bound to get beat up and it doesn't bother me a bit as long as the thing works.Time will tell how durable it is, and if it breaks when I feel it shouldn't then I'll be sure to come back and update this review. But for now I am absolutely stoked on this thing and its one of my favorite products I've yet received through vine. An instant permanent addition to general purpose tool bag (and a lightweight, compact one at that).

This is well made and works well - so long as you're not needing feet or inches. IT'S METRIC only...Which is really too bad! I really liked the small form factor and the thumb button is awesome!I would totally buy a few more if they changed it so that you could change the unit of measurement.

This SG SURGOAL green laser distance measurement tool is pretty cool. I also have a TackLife red laser measurement tool but it's not as accurate as this one. I've used my TackLife for many different measurements on our 4 acre property. So this new SG SURGOAL unit will take over that duty because I now like it better than my TackLife unit.I did a couple of tests to check the accuracy using a Stanley 16 foot tape measure, and the result was 16.014 ft as shown in the photo. I also checked at 1 foot distance and the result was 1.004 ft as shown in the photo. Both of these measurements are fairly accurate, at least within my acceptable tolerance. But I don't know how well it does for distances greater than 16 feet, for now that is unknown.The green laser light is definitely brighter than a red laser light. However in bright daytime the green laser dot will be hard to see at long distances. Example: at 100 ft I could not see the green laser light during daytime, but at night I could see it clearly as it landed on some surfaces, however I could not distinguish the surface upon which it landed because of the darkness. So, although this laser distance measurement tool has a max distance spec of 80 meters (= 262 feet), I really believe seeing the small green laser dot at large distances would be nearly impossible, my opinion.So if I need to measure a distance of hundreds of feet I would do it in steps and then add up the total distance of each step, and I've done this numerous times with my TackLife unit. Or I could also use my Golf Laser Range Finder with 7X Scope, it's not as accurate but it has a max distance spec of 1200 yards (= 3600 feet).This SG SURGOAL green laser distance measurement tool has many other features other than just distance measurement, it saves your data and does some area and volume calculations, it's like a little computer specific to distance, area, and volume. But my main use will be distance only, you can read more about all the other features in the Amazon product listing.One thing I don't like is that the side button is very sensitive, to the point that if I pick it up off a table I can easily activate it if my fingers happen to brush against the button, and it can also activate the green laser during this unintended turn on of the device. It's happened several times as I was using it for some measurements, I don't like that it does this, sort of frustrating, but it's a really cool laser measurement device so I'll just live with this annoying activation (plus it has an auto turn off feature after a minute or so).Overall, this is a really cool little green laser distance measurement tool, and I like it.
