Update: Although, I didn't like the product, I must admit the company did reach out to make things right. They swiftly issued a refund and offered to send an additional item. That's customer service more companies should learn from. Again, although I didn't like this product, to have a company stand by there values to take care of the customer means a lot.Original:I almost never write reviews but I had too for this one. This thing sucks! It's flimsy and doesn't feel sturdy in my opinion. The core prongs if you will aren't sharp at all. Basically, even just lightly compacted dirt won't get removed and gets clogged in prongs. It only goes about a quarter inch and gets stuck. Even when i put my weight into it, it gets stuck and can't penatrate the soil. There's a reason the real core aerators cost more.

missing nuts for the bolts. found some spare ones in the garage and assembly was easy. Assuming your ground is compacted and that's why you bought this it might not be easy to use without sharpening or adding a lot of force. The easiest way I've found is to keep your foot on the step by keeping pressure with your arms as you lift your foot or jump and slam your leg into the dirt. If your ground is not too compacted it won't be too difficult with just your weight or a hard step. I'm 165lbs.

Cannot even put it together as it is missing pieces. Now I have to waste my time returning

This came with all parts and it was easy to assemble.Once assembled, with all screws and nuts tightened well, it is sturdy and bears my weight easily.I used it in damp soil, after having had a solid rain the day before. It took all my 160# to penetrate my compacted, clay heavy soil. If you weigh less than 150#, I think it would be difficult to make this work, unless your soil is already fairly aerated, in which case you won't need this! The middle didn't seem to be penetrating much. Plug were coming out of the top on the outside expeller holes but not the middle.Unfortunately, the plugs were only an inch or less deep, so it's not really doing much to aerate the soil.

My tool came with all hardware and assembled with no issues. This hasn't worked well for me though, as my yard has either been petrified dry or sopping wet pretty much all year. I also have a lot of gravel in my soil, which makes using this a battle. With only 3 tines, this would make a lot of work out of anything more than a very small patch of ground. I may give this another try next Spring, but so far, simple spiked aerators have worked out better for me (although I wouldn't say they worked great either). Not quite what I hoped for but I wanted to give it a try. Your results may vary if your soil is more cooperative.

This is a great tool for small areas where you need to aerate. I had dead patches in my lawn from the brutally hot summer last year & just needed to aerate & overseed. This tool was easy to put together & use. Do be sure that you're using it on dry ground as wet dirt will clog in the plugs & is hard to push out.
