Changing springs on an LT Gen 3 engine that on a engine stand. I have the 2 valve, "T" bar style as well as the screw down type. By far, this is the most efficient. I thought the "T" bar type would be a better fit but you, at least the way I done it, you only do 1 valve at a time anyways. And the best part is, it is the cheapest and American made! Now if you have the head offf, then use a "C" clamp spring compressor. But on the engine, this is the best option.

Did a really good job with valve spring replacement. I used it on my stock LQ4 with 317 heads. Had zero issues of it stripping out as some people complained about. Just make sure you thread it in your head at least and inch. I also used hand tools, I didn’t use impact. Make sure you lube the threads good and you’ll be set. Probably would have been faster to use one that does 2 springs at once but…. I chose this and it worked great.

This was my first time changing valve springs on an LS motor and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something I might not use again. After reading reviews I decided to go ahead and get a couple of these just in case. I oiled the threads and ended up only needing to use one. Even with the oil, the threads did get tore up some, but I'm pretty sure I could do another set or two of heads with no problems. Great tool for the money.

the tool itself is great, was able to swap a set of springs and seals in an hour and change. However even with using plenty of lube the nut stripped the threads off the all thread halfway though the job. Luckily I was able to use a a different washer and a stock rocker bolt and finish the job.

I used this to swap over stock beehive springs for a set of BTR 660 dual springs, on a LS3. I had no issues using a little arp ultra torque on the threads and under the washer. This tool worked great.

On the 2nd spring the threads pealed out of the nut and upon further inspection the studs threads were also letting go. I had given the threads a nice coating of anti-seize and was taking it easy to prevent damaging the lip were the valve cover seats.

I normally don't write reviews but this one was bad. This is a great idea but horrible hardware with the part. If your using this to install springs with a heavy seat pressure the threaded rod & nut are not strong enough. I pulled the threads off the threaded rod and ultimately got metal shavings in my heads.

Can't beat the price with this, although the threads and washer do not hold up. I used this to change valve springs on my LS and the threads are so badly damaged that I will not use it again, but it did the job.

Works in a pinch, the provided hardware sucks and pulls threads easily, The tab the presses the spring down bent, Bought a new / different tool hoping for better results.
