Excellent set, highly recommended. In particular vs. the similar sets that use a single bar that you bolt to the head and lever against, this set allows you to use any part of the engine or the car as leverage (either by using the bolt-grabbing attachment or the 90 degree hook attachment, or just lever against a convenient solid part of the car), and the lever can be flipped for trying different angles or work in tight space. Four different valve spring compressor fittings let you work on anything from big American OHV engines to tiny Japanese engines with perfect fit (I bought this because my Honda's valve springs were too small and tight for those generic screw-type spring compressors to properly grab). Indispensable for cramped engine bays in general and mid-engine cars in particular if you don't want to pull the heads.

Decent tool, does the job. I was replacing valve stem seals on a 2.0 Jetta. (AEG) while the tool performed acceptably, there are few things that could drastically improve performance. The first would be bushings. The joints of the tool are loose, allowing for fairly significant "slop". I had the tool twist out of alignment and pop free, releasing the valve springs and launching the keeper lock into the netherspere. The second would be to make different options for the hook side.

I was trying to decide between a 3 or 4 star review as the tool seems to be decent. However, I didn't get to use it. I bought it to do the intake valves on an Audi/Volkswagen 2.8L 30 valve V6. The intake valves are really small and the smallest adapter in this kit was too big. I returned it. So, don't buy it for a 5 valve head. It would likely work well for other applications though.

This valve spring compression tool is by far one of the BEST tools I have used for the job. Same tool is over $90 anywhere. Shipping was fast and tool came as described.

I bought this in the hope that it would work for one particular odd ball cylinder head, that I needed to remove valve springs in the car. It worked ok for that job. But then I had to do a valve job on a Volvo the next day and this thing was amazing. I was able to use the hook that was one of the attachments, to quickly reposition to the next valve. I did all 20 valves in this 5 cylinder head in record time. Also has several size attachments for larger or smaller valve springs, as well as different attachments for anchoring the tool. It is very adjustable and should work on most heads. I have several other valve spring tool kits that I have invested a lot of money in over the years, but this is going to be my new favorite.
