First spike. Only used on land far from salt water so can't speak to harsh use survivability. Feel / balance is great. Strength is there. Point is just enough for anything but the really small stuff. Will be adding another to the collection for the cabin.

I bring this caving with me when I need to do a lot of rigging. It works great for loosening stubborn knots in caving ropes. More importantly, the tip is fairly blunt so I am not worried about stabbing myself if I were to slip while using it, nor does it puncture holes in my caving pack.

This is an excellent tool for anyone who uses rope.Simply is is a piece of stainless steel with a tapered point and a hole at the large end of the tool. My problem with most Marlinspikes is that the point is so sharp it actually damages rope. When you deal with expensive rope such as climbing rope/webbing you really want to avoid any damages, especially if you are trusting your life to that rope. This Marlinspike has the perfect tip, it is pointy without being too sharp. It is pointed enough to get into any knot, but not sharp enough to poke into the rope itself. The eye at the large end is intended to be used to lace sails and essentially use as a large needle, as I do see me needing that, I plan to braid a paracord lanyard onto the eyelet. My only negative about this product is the eye is not polished, not a huge deal, but be warned there is some grey residue hanging out in there so I would use a cotton swab or scrap of cloth wipe the eye out till it wipes clean.

This is my second one having lost the first one. I love the tool but hate the sheath which is how I lost the first one. I now have rigged a leash so I hope to not have to buy another one.

Works well at prying and separating rope. Very niche tool but I love it

Works very well for getting tight knots out of drawstrings. Saved several pairs of sweatpants with it

This marlin spike is impressive and very effective. Purchased to work on historical rope techniques. My wife already used to untie a tough knot. It is much larger than photos indicate.
