My wife had brand new tires installed and the technician stripped a wheel bolt (Jeep) while trying to reinstall the new tires.. well, i got stuck with fixing it...I can't ruin it further so I ordered this tap and replacement wheel bolt (pack of 5 from Amazon).. worked great..cut like butter and I installed the wheel bolt and torqued it to 100 lb/ft..."click" good to go...now she has 5 wheel bolts on each hub.... this tap cut great...worth the money ðŸ‘

I'm going to start with the negative part of my experience with this tap. I ordered a M6 X 1.0 tap but when it arrived, it seemed to be larger than expected. The order form said M6 X 1.0 and the package said M6 X 1.0 but etched on the tap itself was, "M8 X 1.0." If I had just started trying to cut threads with it, it would have been a sad mess but I caught it from the start. Of course, the Amazon Prime return process was wonderful, amazing, quick and easy. They sent me a replacement, which was the correct size that time, and I sent back the first one. I can't mark a product down from that kind of mistake but it would be a good idea to check yours out first and well before the return period runs out.Using the correct size tap, I had an aluminum mounting block with two blind holes that came from the factory with threads that only went down about 1/2" into an 1" deep hole. For the type of application that it was, it may have been fine like that but I wanted to use longer screws and just get more threads involved. For my situation, this tap worked just fine but it was only cutting into not-hard aluminum. This was not one of the aluminum alloys that are much harder (such as 7075 T6). Please note that I read reviews where some people had broken their taps and also, I'm of the old school where you go forward 1/2 turn and then reverse two turns. I also used a decent cutting oil. Being a blind hole, I also removed the tap and cleared out the chips several times. That takes a lot longer then the way some people may tap a hole but I only had TWO holes to tap and wanted to play it as safe as possible.

Tapped over 50 holes in 3/16" thick mild steel plate with the M6x1.0 tap. Was just as good on the last hole as it was on the first. Better than the overpriced Snap-On tap I had that broke after 25 holes. Would buy again.

Not the best I’ve seen but for chasing thread, it works fine. I do not intend to use it for threading a hole, but the way I used it, it’s good.
