This is a fun gadget that's well designed and easy to use. I like to take a close look at bugs, feathers, plants, and other things in nature, using a macro clip-on lens for my phone. This item lets me zoom in on tinier details, and it works well for a non-professional, hand-held microscope. There are lots of options built into the device, including changing the light color and brightness, zooming in and out, and taking a photo. The options require using several buttons on the device, each of which has multiple functions, depending on what you want to do--and for me, that means having the user manual (which is well illustrated and succinct) at hand, at least until I use this enough times to remember the buttons' functions and options. I have taken some test photos and they turn out well, keeping in mind that the field of focus is very small by design. I'm including in my review some photos I took of one of the Asian ladybeetles that sneak into my house for winter and then die in a window track. I needed to adjust the magnifier's height for that, which is well explained in the how-to guide. The magnifier's built-in riser ensures that something flat that it rests over will be in focus. If the subject isn't flat, the magnifier needs to be held a little higher. It's easy to see when you're holding it at that distance by watching the display. I found it was also easy to find something to prop the magnifier on, thus holding it hands-free and stable over the ladybeetle. If you look at the photos I've included with this review, notice that they're in focus in just a small portion of each photo. That's a limitation of the narrow field of focus and prompts me to criticize the misleading photos on this magnifier's product page--they show completely in-focus images of insects, which is not possible with this device. But if you understand its limitations, this is an inexpensive but worthwhile tool to explore what's tiny in our world. I'm looking forward to sharing it with grandkids, who I think will be quite amazed by what it enables them see.

I like this little device. Why did I order it? Mostly with the thought that of late there are tiny-print things I need to read that even my magnifying glasses can't read. That's probably down to me being old, but even more down to many products including virtually microscopic print in their user manuals, warranties, etc these days. Just the other day I had to hang my head inside a filled refrigerator and try to make out the tiny print for the model number... finally had to put the right lens on my DSLR and shoot a pic, which just got silly. Also, our dear rich neighbors, in their wisdom, have introduced "little fire ants" (LFA) into the neighborhood and kept mum about it, so they have spread to our yard and others. They don't burrow, they just hang off trees and plants and sting you with venom that burns like fire... but they're so small, just a couple mm, that they're nearly invisible. In order to tell them from other light-colored small ants you need them well-magnified. To prove it, you need a photo. Voila. So it was with these two uses in mind I ordered this, and it works well for both. Yay.The inherent limitation is that it's a fixed focus, so it will mostly be good at viewing things exactly at the pre-set focal distance, which is the depth of the thing. So if you lay it flat on a dollar bill or something, you'll get a pretty good focus. If you try to use it for something else larger, you'll be going in and out of focus because the focus is shallow and the magnification is high. But I knew the physics of it before I ordered it, so fine.It does come with a workable 8gb sd card which was readily read by my mac mini. A photo of a tiny piece of the face of my smartwatch is included, as well as the mac's analysis of the "16mp" image in terms of pixel count. (Note, I've downsized it some to attach it here, since the amazon site would do that anyhow). I also tested the SD card mechanism and it ejected and re-inserted smoothly with a sharp enough fingernail. The images used in the ad page are presumably mostly stock photos, as many of them show a lot more depth of field and lighting nuance that this thing can do.Theres a multi-position switch to brighten or dim the lighting, or turn it off, a button for the menu to adjust capture file size and stuff. A button to easily bring up the menu, a button to do digital zoom, which I won't use, and a button to capture images. Nicely laid out in a small but easily-holdable device with a nice case.It comes with glass slides included for kids to examine, and a lanyard. The zippered case is nice, with an elastic pouch to hold the other stuff. All in all, well put-together. It comes with a USBC charging cord and no charger, but that's standard these days. This strikes me as a 4-star device, due largely to their use of stock footage for the beautiful demo images on the item page, which is misleading. For what it will do, though, it's fine and I can recommend it for those uses. For prosaic things
