Ordered two of these to replace two old ones when I had my radiators dipped, stripped and refinished. Installed these in October, they've been in place for 2-1/2 months. These two are very loud and constantly release steam from my radiators as compared to the older ones I didn't replace. Could they both be defective? I don't know. Any help most appreciated.Review update - I lived with these two cheap, noisy, malfunctioning steam valves now for 4 months. They're so loud they interrupt my sleep. I went and bought a Hoffman brand steam valve to replace one of them to see if the Hoffman would work any better, and boy, does it! Very quiet. It cost about $15 more then the cheap one and is well worth the money. I'll be getting another and tossing these two cheap ones in the garbage.Do youself a favor, don't cheap out and buy these. They're junk. Amazon shouldn't be selling them. Spend the extra money and get ones that work.

I have to say that I was impressed with this one. This was the 2nd radiator valve that I brought. Both were from Amazon and both were under $20 each. I live in an old studio apartment in San Francisco with radiator heat. The maintenance guy is pretty good but it takes so long to get anything done. Fast-forward to ordering one on Amazon and installing it myself. The 1st one lasted about 2 days hints this one. Wrapping the threads 6-8 times with thread tape and simply screwing it in hand tight seems to have resolved the problem. If it's not cost effective for you to buy one of the $40-$60 radiator valves then buy this one and be done with it.

A sudden cold snap and a one year old maid o mist vent failing led me to try this one. For the price it’s fine. It works but it whistles and not just a venting air sound but a loud high pitched whistle. It’s in the bedroom and annoying when I’m trying to sleep. I should have spent 2x the money on a better adjustable vent rite valve. Would not recommend this or maid o mist vents. Will likely be replacing with a vent rite like I have in the rest of the house. Lesson learned.

I tried purchasing two of these, spaced over a year apart, but neither of them worked. I regret attempting to buy it a second time, especially knowing the first one was faulty from the start. The vent doesn't close properly, causing it to release steam and water endlessly when it should only be letting out air. It’s clear this product just doesn't work as it should. Save yourself the hassle and invest in the much more reliable—and more expensive—Hoffman 43, as only a steam valve like that can actually do the job.
