This got the job done. I used it for 12 doors. I gave it 5 stars based ont he function vs the price ratio......but I might have like to try that Ryobi jig, that looked very versatile. But I did not so cant contrast them. Very nice it comes with the bit. That worked fine and held up also. It is a bit of a hassle to put those screws in to hold it in place then you have to fill those holes when you are done. But for the price and the inculded router bit, cant complain. A couple pointers. Start your bit depth more shallow than you think you need. You can always take out more material. I also ended up cutting off the metal guides that limit how you place the jig on the door. I needed a few of my latches to go further into to the door jam to get the hinge aligment right.

Makes it easier to mortise my door for hinge instillation. I have only did a test on a piece of wood and it worked well.

This is must have tool for the diy’ers out there. My only regret is I should have purchased a pair when I did my initial purchase. Disregard the negative reviews specifically for the one customer who showed a video of the black plastic guide being too sloppy. Please read the step by step instructions. Set the metal guide first screw it in place then insert the black plastic guide into the hole from the top, not the side. Stop looking for negative and have an open mind. I bet you’lll be impressed with the results. Have a positive day!!

I didn't have a hinge jig and needed to route12 hinges. It was so inexpensivec, and I admit, I was skeptical, but decided to give it a try. I marked the centerline of all of my hinges which is a must, and to the best of my ability screwed on the jig to that center mark. I tested it on a spare piece of wood to just to set the depth of the included router tip, and then, off I went. It was so easy...I routed the 12 hinges within 20 minutes and to my surprize, when mounting, the alignment of every hinge was dead on perfect. It was so much worth the money. Just measure accurately, take your time, and you will be pleased!

The templet works great. only problem that I had was the metal bracket that holds the plastic templet was to thick so my router didn't work with the guide on it. I had to drill two holes in the plastic templet and screw that onto my door and frame for it to work. Other then that it is great.

When I purchased this, I was thinking that maybe I should get a different product that clamped the template on instead of actually screwing the template to the door. Now that I have used this, I really appreciate that there is no chance for the template to move. Each prep is perfect. the process is simple,Measure from the top of the old door to the top of each hinge. Transfer that to the new door but add 1/2 the height of the hinge to each measurement. For example, the measurement from the top of my door to the top of the highest hinge was 7 inches, The hinge is a 3 1/2 inch hinge. Half of that is 1 3/4 inches. So, add these together to determine the Center Line for the hinge location - so, 8 3/4 inches. Mark this on the door as this template lines up on the Center Line Align the center of the template (which is marked) to your mark on the door. Hold it in place as you screw down one side. Then screw down the other side.It just takes a few seconds with the router bit provided to clear the prep for the hinge. The most difficult part is setting the depth for the router bit. You can get close by stacking a hinge on the template and eyeballing it. What is nice is that while the template is screwed to the door, you can slide a hinge into make sure the prep is deep enough. If not, adjust the router bit down until the hinge is perfectly recessed.

works as advertised, saved me a lot of time. clear instructions. Test your work on a piece of scrap wood first to make sure the depth is right

Simple and easy to make the hinge grooves. No setup required. But unfortunately the templates are not for Australian hinges standard .I had to return but will definitely buy again if metric templates are made available for Australian customers.

This item does not fit Australian style hinges. You need metric ones.
