It was the first time I fit a cello bridge to my son's student cello. I ordered the two pack in case I made a mistake. As a woodworker, the quality of the maple is good. Low moisture content and both bridges arrived in excellent condition. They were straight (not warped) and cut correctly in respect to the wood grain. It took about an hour to carve the bridge and fit it to the cello. The new bridge works so much better than the original one that came with his cello. I believe the original one was made from spruce. His cello sounds less thin and has really come alive since fitting this bridge.I highly recommend getting one of those black string expander things to measure the proper string heights, then using it and a bridge template to carve these bridge blanks. Many of the student cellos come with the action above the fingerboard to high.We lowered his string heights using this bridge, lowered and recut the string grooves at the nut and the playability of his cello improved tremendously! These are great bridge blanks, and it was really helpful to have the two pack, as I did make a mistake on my first try. I actually ordered another set after I got the bridge perfect on the second try so I could make him a couple of spares since we finally got his cello all dialed in just the way he wants it.Hope this review helps others. This two pack of bridges worked great for us, I have no complaints. Shipping and delivery was fast, quality is good and the price is great.

I bought this for my son's cello. All cellos are different and the bridges come oversized and require shaping to the cello. I traced the old bridge and was careful to sand it down a little bit larger than the old bridge, but it took me a couple of trys to get it right. The bridge is good quality. Even if it takes a couple of tries, it is a lot cheaper than paying a luther to do it and I know it is done right, now.The feet must be shaped first to get an even contact with the cello. Then, shape the top of the bridge a couple of cm taller than you think you will need. You can always take off some more, but you can't add. The notches should just be barely deep enough to allow the string to stay in position. At least half of the diameter of the string should be sticking up above the notch, or else you may get a buzzing sound. After repeated use, the string will eventually cut into the bridge and the bridge will need to be replaced, so it is good to be able to do it yourself and make sure it is done correctly.
