Ok the thermostat works and still working. The heater went out after a few months. Now I’m not knocking the product because I read after it went out to turn it off when adding water, I didn’t, so could be my fault. But it did work very well and I like the idea you can set it.

After two months it just went white and did not heat the tank anymore ! Don’t buy it! Amazon refunded me as the seller could not be contacted. I was treating my fish for ick and I noticed in the morning the temp was ten degrees too low! I need a dependable thermometer and heater. I will buy a better one. This one is going back. I love the plastic case but that’s it crying as I almost lost more fish.

TL;DR - Awesome heater, not so great temperature control (could just be the one unit), and very difficult to clean because of the impossible-to-unfasten housing.This is a really good heater. I got the 200W and that was a mistake on my part (too much for my tank).I give it a 5 star for doing what it says and the value for money. However, the temperature control dial was not reliable. So, that probably brings this down to a 4 star.My complaint is with the plastic housing. Now, heating rods tend to get algae gunk on it from time to time (if it is a me problem, please help me with advice). So, naturally cleaning the heating rod means, I had to the open the plastic housing so I could scrub out the stubborn sludge.I am not exaggerating when I say that the plastic housing is difficult to remove. The plastic housing would probably give a Nokia 3310 a run for its money and I know this is the internet, so I do not say that lightly.Well, hurt feelings, and bruised fingers aside, the heater served me for about 3 months. One fine day, when wrestling with the housing so I could take the heating rod out and clean it. I yanked too hard, the shell unfastened with an impulse and the rod hit something and shattered into pieces.Now, I do not blame the heater for it, but I docked 1 star for the the stressful night of having to leave my otherwise tropical tank without heating. So, that is how this product received its 3 stars.

Pretty solid unit. The temperature dial is pretty close to actual water temperature. I am pleased with the purchase and may purchase some more units as I expand my hobby.Well packed as well. Little chance for it to break as it had a lot of packing material in the box to protect the glass.

The adjustment dial isn’t accurate but the included digital thermometer makes that a moot point. I was satisfied after the first month of use, but now 3 months later it has stopped working. It still gets warm to the touch, but is not adequately heating the water. Junk.
