Setting it up was a simple, it has a 30 second countdown before you see the screen, the clear display makes it easy to understand the readings but it always shows the 4 bars with the blinking green, the smallest one. It does say that when the alarm senses gas the other color indicators will blink along with a loud alarm. After plugging into an outlet it starts to monitor dangerous gas emissions, you simply plug it in and let the monitor do the rest. I would have preferred to see one bar, green, when it is safe, then the colored bars depending on the severity of the gas leak to start to blink in order of severity, so as not to be confused when you glance at the unit and see it blinking. To me that’s a false read.Once I got used to the blinking green, it did give me peace of mind knowing the home is safe from any gas leaks. The alarm is loud enough to hear from almost anywhere in the house, including the basement and the small size makes it easy to fit anywhere without being intrusive.I plugged the unit into an extension cord to take around and check all of my gas pipe fittings, I did do the gas leak detection with Harvey’s Gas Leak Detector but thought what the heck lets see if this little device finds anything, fortunately for me it did not detect anything.I also tried this unit on my BBQ propane tank and it work flawlessly, turned on the gas without a flame and within seconds the alarm went off an the bars started to blink from green to yellow to orange.Let’s hope to never experience a real home test of these alarms.I did have one issue with the unit and contacted Inkbird, response and directions came quickly with a video for further help, nice!

This gas leak detector is super easy to use—just plug it in, and it starts working. It detects multiple gases like natural gas and propane, which is great for my home. The digital display is clear, and the alarm is loud enough to get your attention if there's a leak. I also love the night/day mode feature, which lets me adjust the brightness for a better night’s sleep. It’s small, stylish, and gives me peace of mind knowing I’m protected. Definitely recommend it!

I have previously owned various gas detectors but I like this one much more. This one is clean, simple and unassuming. Plugs in and gives a nice digital output . Like most gas leak detectors, it can detect multiple gases and works well. I have not tested the night/day mode since I have it in the kitchen so I prefer it to be always be lit, but I appreciate the feature is there. Overall very happy with this device and highly recommend it.

I followed the instructions for testing the gas detector (using a burning but then extinguished piece of paper, NOT a gas burner or car exhaust) and it gave an audible alarm and flashed the yellow gas detection LED bar; so I feel confident that the device works well for detecting combustion gases. However, I'm not sure about the temperature and relative humidity sensors. They don't seem to be presented as main features, and I didn't test with a lab-quality thermometer and/or hygrometer, but the device consistently read 4-8 degrees LOWER than a different, dedicated thermometer/hygrometer I placed next to it as well as a nearby smart thermostat. The humidity reading from the device was consistently 4-8 percentage points HIGHER than the dedicated thermometer/hygrometer I placed adjacent to the device. Bottom line (tl/dr): I'm inclined to trust this device to detect combustion gases but would not rely on it for temperature or indoor humidity readings.

I have carbon monoxide detectors in my home, but this give me the added security knowing that I can now detect a gas leak. I installed it next to my stove in the kitchen. Looks good and required no setup at all. Just plug it in and it starts working. I will likely order more of these and give them to older family members who live on their own.

I bought this on a whim for cheap added peace of mind, not because of any known concerns. My house has carbon monoxide sensors built into the alarm system, but I was curious about this for other types of gas which the carbon monoxide sensors might not pick up. Well, I tried this Inkbird monitor on all three floors of our house, and it would constantly alert after just a few minutes. I didn't think it could be accurate, so I plugged it into an outdoor outlet on our open-air deck, and it still alerted after a few minutes. So, we're either living in a huge, perpetual gas pocket which surrounds and permeates our house, or this thing is faulty. Which one is more likely?

I like that this sensor plugs in because I'm always forgetting to change the batteries in things and then they just sit there dead until I remember them. I also have plugs available near the gas connections in my house, so it's very convenient. When it's first plugged in, it starts a 30 second timer. Once that finishes, it shows the screen mentioned in the instructions. The "indicator lights" seem to be the large bars on the screen as shown in the pictures showing the green bar going visible and invisible. Luckily, there weren't any combustible gasses so I'm not sure what the alarm will be like.
