I bought these kits to test the levels in my home. The process is very straightforward. When you receive the kit, read the instructions to find a suitable location where the kit can be undisturbed for a minimum of 48 hours. Then you use their website to register the kit.NOTE: If you want to use the free shipping label, complete the registration without purchasing any optional shipping. I think that part is confusing some people because there’s no option for “free / included shippingâ€. Simply don’t choose any of the shipping options and complete the registration. These are for expedited or for non-USPS options. The label will be emailed to you. Then place the kit for two days. The registration system can even send you a text reminder when it’s time to remove the kit. Pack it up in the included envelope with the shipping label. I received my results within a day of the kit being delivered to the lab. They also provided quality mitigation suggestions because my levels were very high. It’s also worth noting that some states will send you this kit for free. Do it online search for “AE labs state radon kit†program.

My old house has an unfinished basement. I was unaware of radon, and it's affects. This kit includes postage, when you fill out a quick form on the website. The postage is NOT included in the box. That said, this kit is very easy to use, and I received a response back in less then a week from when it was mailed. While there is a margin of error with any tests, I felt confident in the results, and I'm glad that my house and basement do not have high levels of radon. If you have a larger house, or bedrooms in the basement, I would recommend purchasing more then one test as radon can seep in as a gas, even though sealed floors. You can educate yourself by reading state and neighborhood information as radon occurs naturally, and is mapped though parts of the united states, and other countries. Even if you live in an area with low radon exposure, it's still worth purchasing this kit for new or old houses. This will NOT resolve a radon issue, but will provide you with information to then create next step remedy plans.

I run a radon test every year and the two pack allows me to place one in opposite corners of my basement. Easy to use and you can bundle the two together and ship them together to the lab.

I purchased this particular home test because it was supposed to include the postage, making it the most economical also. However, I never saw any postage paid envelope, so it cost an extra $13. I'm assuming the test is accurate though, and since I needed to know results, I'm glad I used it. The directions are easy to follow and I do believe the lab is reputable.

I bought this to test our basement, a few years after we moved into new construction, as recommended by our builder. When I tested, sure enough we had elevated radon. I had a professional company come in and do their own test (they use an independent party), and their results came back within 0.1 of this kit. I had them remediate the problem, and then they retested. Their new test showed radon levels well below acceptable, and I bought a second one of these kits to make sure. Once again, it was within 0.1 of their professional number. So I feel really good about the value of this kit.

Company should be sued for False Advertising as well as Unfair and Deceptive trade practices. I purchased this test solely due to claim shipping was included and I wouldn't pay an extra money (their words are not one more penny--read on, it costs many more pennies to ship). Even in product highlights, it is stated:FREE LAB TESTING, SHIPPING INCLUDED - We'll cover the testing fee and return shipping so you don’t have to pay a penny extra for that (shipping label is emailed to you when registering the test online). You’ll usually get your lab results back within 3-5 working days after we receive your radon sample.Upon registering my 1 pack radon test with lab and shipping costs included (see attached pic), I moved through the registration process screens by entering my seriel number and registration code including my personal information. When I got to the return mailing screen, I expected an option to simply print my PREPAID mailing label as listed in their product highlights that shipping was included, Instead, I was presented with 3 FedEx options for return mailing. The most inexpensive option was ground shipping and the price was $12.50 (shipping from WI to TX). The other two options were considerably higher. What I also observed was a disclaimer banner on this page that stated I am free to choose any mailing option to get test to lab in TX and I don't have to use their options listed below along with a listing that I had a $4 credit for shipping to be applied to the FedEx shipping options and not a prepaid FedEx shipping label as I expected. In order for me to complete the registration, there was NO option for me to simply get back my $4 shipping credit to my Amazon account and ship USPS ground from WI to TX for a lot less money than $12.50 to continue my registration process. I had to pay an additional $8.50 on my credit card and they applied my $4 shipping credit (total $12.50) and check out before the registration process would complete.Buyer BEWARE: I plan on raising this issue with the Attorney General as this company, Alpha Energy, is not Better Business Bureau accredited in Texas. no where in their literature that was mailed or listed here on Amazon that a $4 credit for shipping would be provided and I would incur additional costs for shipping. If their argument is going to be free shipping is limited to certain georgraphical area (south), they need to explicity call that out. No where do I see this limitation indicated.
